Coal is......Not Back

Adding these guys to the list of people who literally voted for this and now are whining. FU this is what you voted for this is what you got deal with it until next election.

The president of United Mine Workers of America said Wednesday that the coal industry is not "back," despite President Donald Trump's claims.

Roberts said Trump cutting back some of the Obama-era regulations that limited coal-fired power plant emissions "perhaps kept the coal industry ... in existence" but that plants are still closing "dramatically" and the market keeps shrinking. He said coal mining jobs will continue to be lost because of what he called bad public policy, and "eventually there will be no market here or only the strongest companies will survive."

Roberts also pleaded with the President to tweet that he believes coal miners who are entitled to pensions should have them. He noted that Trump has repeatedly said he loves coal miners, and he asked the President to "just make us 15 seconds of his day," adding that he wasn't being critical of Trump.

Again FU.....No more welfare for you. Deal with the choice you made.

Whatever happens to them happens. Coal will be basically gone by 2030.

Meanwhile in Green Energy News

Solar and Agriculture can actually compliment each other.
https://arstechnica.com/science/2019/09/crops-under-solar-panels-can-be-a-win-win/

Turns out solar panels work well with certain shade loving hand-picked crops. The crops become much more water efficient, using more CO2, while the plants end up dropping the temperature on the arrays increasing electrical production by up to 3% during the summer.

I see this stretching off from horizon to horizon with a distant city at the other end, lined with agricultural robot tillers and pickers and cars that run on tracks, planting and harvesting and feeding the city beyond with food and energy all bathed in crystal clean air and all surrounded by wilderness.

Glorious irony in that it was Thatcher who kick-started research into CO2-driven-warming, in part because she saw it as another possible stick to bash the miners with.

Yep Trumpanzees are horrified we will not be making a return to the days of coal, segregation, miscegenation, mass lynchings or black and white TVs.

This is great, do we have any data on the adoption rate of this "technique"? I don't see a reason why this wouldn't scale to larger fields and I'm guessing there are much larger fields than the one pictured.

Also that Roberts guy can go fuck himself, he's getting exactly what he deserves and so do all the miners that voted for this disaster.

Don't worry China is more than happy to spread the coal-love throughout the world and not a peep out of all you phony liberals as long as they provide all your cheap goods and those nasty coal plants aren't located in your back yard, but just keep on hating on those deplorables,

Unlike the Chinese who are at least trying to take care of their workers in the coal industry,

But the Chinese engineers, metalworkers and laborers who built coal-fired power plants must be kept employed. And, Cunningham says, "many are going abroad." They are building energy projects for developing nations, largely as part of China's Belt and Road Initiative.

because they realize keeping people busy and productive is better than abandoning them as some sort of deplorables to be ridiculed like is so common by the elitist liberals in America and somehow with all that higher education couldn't see that when you abandon the middle class, and they lose all hope bad things happen, like the last Presidential election showed.

A responsible US government would have a program promoting renewables and storage globally with a pocket book to co-invest in the developing world. Alas, we do not have a responsible government.

if only the opposing candidate had proposed a plan to retrain workers whose coal jobs are being displaced by a changing energy market. Surely that would have secured their victory

Yup and that is exactly why I say fuck them. Democrat proposes loans, educational grants and supporting solar to give incentive to hire these dudes and they are like “WE DON’T WANT WELFARE!!!!!” from da goobermint.

Okay that’s fine, I’m okay with that.

They elect this turd who has done exactly what he said and their jobs still dry up just like everyone predicted and they’re like

“Please lord Trump tweet out something saying we deserve our retirement money”

a) tweet.....really have the President tweet something about it? That’s the solution?
b) how did these guys feel about the SALT (taxes) deduction cap, were they cheering it on to stick it to the libs
c) they aren’t brave enough to support someone who actually would protect their retirement funds like Bernie or Warren

Fuck these guys they continually shoot themselves in the dick.

I love the idea overall, but how does this specific part work? I would expect plants underneath the solar panels to have zero effect on the heat levels of the panels themselves, unless they're comparing it to solar panels with white rocks or asphalt underneath or something.

My aunt is a bat shit crazy, vindictive, and controlling bitch. Her and her pussy whipped husband moved to Wyoming decades ago so he could work in the coal industry. It paid very well because no one wants to live in Wyoming.

Over the years they enjoyed rubbing how much money they made in the rest of the family's faces but stupidly had nearly all of their savings in the coal company's stock. Now the stock is worthless, they had to sell their house and toys, and live full time in their camper.

I'd be sympathetic if she wasn't such a bitch.

Hillary actually had proposed funding for retraining for example for workers in these types of industries. Of course it didn't sound as good as "we're bringing coal back"!! "Clean coal"!! Etc

The dissatisfaction expressed in the last presidential election was the result of GOP obstructionism, lies & blame shifting.

Just because they suck doesn't mean we have to, right? I love when people throw out the "what about those guys! They're doing it too!" argument. It just doesn't work.

We should have invaded Canada in 1939 and they when people complained we could have just said "why are you complaining about it!? Germany is invading countries too!'

STFU

Coal is dead. It can (and will) go the way of the typewriter, the horse and buggy and all the other outdated technologies. The world will move forward with or without you.

Well normally solar arrays are put on roofs, or out on bare land.

Plants control their temperatures by opening their stomata and letting out water vapor providing some cooling. Also a small percentage of the incoming sunlight that hits the crops doesn’t get turned into heat. It’s used for photosynthesis and ends up as the chemical bonds in the carbohydrates the plant produces.

If you look at a thermal image plants are always cooler than the surroundings

This was the first I’d heard of it. Hopefully since the study looks promising they can identify the correct crops and solar array geometry to maximize the benefit. Then the appropriate farms could get paid for solar electric leases like they do for wind leases.

You know, I'm aware of plants emitting moisture and absorbing light. I should have been able to 2+2 that shit together. Thanks for making me look like an idiot, jerk face.

Anyhow yeah, I'd love me some hedgerows of solar panels with flowers/veggies growing under them. Bring it on.
