High fructose corn syrup contains sugars: fructose and glucose. Sugars are a type of molecule, not one specific molecule. Glucose, sucrose, dextrose, fructose, lactose are all sugars; if you haven't figured it out by now usually (if not always) if it ends in -ose, it is a sugar.

I am not 100%, but I would imagine that HFCS is no more healthy or worse for you than normal sucrose (i.e. table sugar). They are both just empty calories and not too good for you.

Anyhow, Chlorine gas can be pretty nasty if you inhale it, but chlorine as an element is found in a whole slew of stuff. I am not sure what the deal is, but apparantly all of the quacks on the net immediately associated chlorine with dioxins. Dioxins are bad (that is a class of compounds, there is no one moleclue just called dioxin), but just because you have a chlorine does not mean in any way you have dioxins. We can always go back to the simple example of table salt. Anyhow TCDD (a popularly refrenced dioxin) is a byproduct of the infamous Agent Orange. It is a large and nasty molecule, it is no simple by product of chlorine; whatever that is suppose to mean anyhow.

About Sucralose, well as much as people want to talk about government conspiracy theories, the FDA is ultra anal about what is deemed as healthy or unhealthy. It takes a long time to get a drug, food additive or other product approved with the FDA. It was just recently that they allowed popularly prescribed heart-burn medications to be purchased over the counter. If they are that anal over that stuff, they will be more so with stuff that gets placed into a great amount of food products. Look how fast they pulled ephedra off the shelves after reports of a handful of deaths.

Babbles, thanks for your input. You seem to know what the hell you're talking about. Perhaps you should take a second to email them and let them know what you think of their website. I'd be interested to know what they say, if anything.

Honestly not really worth my time. I am sure people with more credentials than I have probably tried to convince these nutballs that they are well . . . nuts.
I do work as a chemist and I allegedly know one or two things. I just happen to have done a lot of analytical work with chlorinated and organophosphate pesticides amongst many other things.

I know technically sugar and HFCS are different (why I said 'practically'), but the site seemed to say that as far as the effects on your body, they're the same.

Well then the FDA is a lot different than the ADA, who still claims that mercury amalgams are safe.


BTW, to all: Coke C2 has aspartame and sucralose (and HFCS) in it.
