you think Advanced Warfare looks horrible?

i think it has some incredible graphics especially single player, those character models are incredible and the lighting is outstanding

For the settings my 2gb allows me to use before i get into COD:StutterWars,it sure does.BO2 can be maxed out on my 770 and it looks much better.

I was simply trying to figure out where the vram goes,BO2 looks incredible with maxed out 2732x1536 8x MSAA while this game looks incredibly bland at 768p and still feels worst off.How that happens on what is essentially the same engine is beyond me.

It appears the Shadow options are causing the vram tanking, shut the advanced ones off and put the others at normal and its ok. Some maps appear to tank harder then others so disabling HBAO+ is a sure deal too. Some play fine while others nope with it enabled.

Black Ops 2 graphics are not as good as AW

AW has much better textures, lighting, poly counts and LOD range

When both are maxed i bet AW does look great and better but i couldn't max out this game on my 2gb card. The advanced shadow options and HBAO+ pretty much tank this card so i was pretty much forced to shut them off.

If this free steam weekend included singleplayer perhaps i could enable those extra options and enjoy them but in multiplayer i can't for obvious reasons.

The settings i have to disable pretty much make it look like BO2 honestly but since i can't even apply MSAA or supersampling it just looks horrible on my monitor.

You have used the wrong settings.

Use something like that.

Do not use Caches sun and spot shadow maps, as this setting puts the textures at low.

Here's a software recorded video I uploaded a while back, to see some of the graphics.

Also your GTX 770 will eat for breakfast. Don't worry.

Even my GTX 570 managed to score 57fps on this camera recorded benchmark I uploaded.

Yeah its the cache options i had to turn off and drop HBAO+ down to normal. It was perfectly playable after that.

If Cache Shadows being off honestly causes textures to drop to low, maybe that is why it looked so horrible to me.I had everything but AA pretty much maxed out.

Couldn't really believe how tasking those cache options are.

They set the textures at low when they are enabled.

Disable them and you'll be fine.

Textures from low to extra is a huge difference for this game.

This has only been a recent situation, in particular after BF4 and Mantle came out, NV released an updated DX11 driver a few months after which dramatically boost CPU efficiency. It was their response to Mantle. But now it carries through in many DX11 games where NV enjoy lower CPU overhead.

I suspect some of the Total System power obtained from reviews in which there's a wide gap for 780ti vs R290X even-though measured via the GPU only, they are similar ~225W average in games is due to lower CPU overhead on NV DX11. The CPU works less to push the GPU, so there's extra power savings gained!

AMD definitely needs to push for better CPU overhead on DX11 as well, without going full-retard on Mantle-only optimizations for a few games that use it.

1. It will help systems with weaker CPUs (AMD CPUs especially!!) get better FPS (Min FPS).
2. Lower system power consumption.

ps. This is a VERY IMPORTANT topic and AMD needs to be 100% aware that they have a major problem on their hand with NV being so much more efficient on DX11.

Or eventualy offloaded some computations to the CPU, hence why their GPUs loves more cores..?.

Contrary to Raghu i dont think that Nvidia didnt optimise their recent drivers for Kepler, what i think is that theses cards are performing currently exactly where they should had always been...

Looking forward to the free weekend and seeing how my new 970 handles this game,my 770 if anyone recalls in December just wasn't up for maxing this thing out even at 768pAdvanced shadow options and HBAO+ pretty much are vram suckers.

Where does vram usage settle? Its been 2 months, anything new performance or patch wise?

Well tried it.

Did 3 rounds and started to get some black and white flashes. Had to reboot PC since nothing else would work once I shut the game screen was all black.

Second time around game crashed half way into the first round.

Same deal, have to reboot.

Uninstalled.

I had some black screen crashes that forced reboots for me too, ended up being the game demands a pagefile. If you use any textures now that are High or Extra, even if everything else is off it would result in a crash but enabling a pagefile it was pretty much flawless.

Its a bit different then it was in December,i haven't had a need for a pagefile and haven't ran one for a few years but for whatever reason this game likes one so i set up 4gb for that.

Vram usage is very odd too, those High+Extra textures suck every bit of memory out of my 970,it was eating into the pagefile lol and i have 8gb of system memory.Normal textures i could run without a pagefile without a issue.I was hitting 9100mb total memory usage, not including a maxed out 970 with High alone....

Wonder if a patch brought on a memory leak?Appears to be 2 new ones since December.
