COD2 BSOD

OK...when I play COD2 for a bit, I get a BSOD, and the reason it gives is "DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

No clue what to do...

7800GT
Athlon 64 FX-53
BFG nForce4 Ultra
2 GB Corsair CL2 TWIN-X (4x 512mb)

I'm using video driver 81.95 and mobo driver 6.82 (though Ihad tried 6.53 as well)

Any clues?

Has this always happened with the game and card, or is it a new problem?

Have you installed any new software lately?

Try this...but remember to turn off verification when you're done since it eats up sys resources.

is your system stable in prime95 and other games/programs that stresses the video card

I'm running Prime95 now.

I called BFG tech, theu tried to blame the memory read errors on my videocard...HAHA!

The problem has spread to general applications such as Explorer which will terminate with a memory read error.

I'm going to return my second gig of RAM to newegg, get a refund and just buy a 2GB Mushkin set I think. This corsair RAM isn't worth the hassel.

Sounds like a memory error . . . this happened to me when I tried to run my memory at too high FSB and timings that are too tight. Video cards generally do not cause BSODs. For instance, if your vid card stops responding because of overclock too much or overheating, etc. likely you will just lose your display (i.e. nothing showing on your monitor), you probably won't get a BSOD . . . (this makes sense if you consider the video cards role in your system)

Also "DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" is most commonly caused by defective ram or unstable ram . . .

Yeah, I figured the BFG tech was way off...BFG tech is useless I find.

Have you tried changing or re-installing your sound card/on board sound drivers?

Yeah, I have been getting weird glitches in my sound in COD2 where I'll suddenly hear the rain louder than everything else, but I think that's COD2 itself.

I had rebuilt my system (reformatted I mean) and it is still doing this crap...

Nope....never plan to. I just want some low latency DEPENDABLE ram.

Its definitely related to voltage or memory. What timings are you using right now? Also, you are using 4x512 mb of memory. Are you using 1t or 2t for memory? That could be the problem right there. 4x512mb of memory with low timings and 1t command rate could easily be the problems.

It only runs at 2T....if I try 1T, I just get beep codes at POST. I've tried dropping the timings down a lot....but still got memory read errors. I am RMA'ing it to newegg for a refund.

At this point I just want some advice on good 2 GB sets of RAM...wrong forum I know...but no one in the other forums ever responds.

cod2 crashes on me too but straight to the desktop at random times. everything else i do is totally stable but cod2 for some reason hates my pc. i hope a patch is out soon or soemthing

Well try different video drivers. Some drivers have issues. My cod2 has no problems at all, so its obviously not COD2....

Well i use nvidia's 81.85 and have tried 81.94 as well. It's screwing with me because this one game is making my pc seem unstable. I'm almost done with it though.

Send me the dumpfiles found in c:\windows\minidump
Run MPS Reports and send me the resulting .cab file
Read the info in my .sig for full directions

I suspect we'll have the answers you're looking for very soon by looking at the dump, which is what XP generates to tell you what went wrong.

Sadly, this has happened to me too, with the 81.95 drivers as well. I just did a clean format last week too. I get the nvp.dll (or whatever) its called BSOD. It has happened three times in as many days. Its random too. Once it did it just after I started up the game, and the other times were when I was in a game. It didnt happen before I formatted. Oh well, almost done with the game.

go for the cheapest you can find. hell buy cas 3 normal latency ram if you want to. amd64s dont really care about latency and the difference between a $160 2gb kit and a $300 2gb kit is only 5% max, less in a lot of games(2% or so in doom 3 i think). judging by those 2 options, get the 2nd one which is $20 cheaper.

compare the pc3000 2-2-2 and the pc3000 3-3-3 and you'll see very little difference outside of sisoft sandra artifical benchmarks and encoding/decoding.
