The vast majority of Texans that go to OU go because they get rejected from UT. It's an undeniable correlation that most high schoolers freely admit. All things equal, OU costs more (out-of-state), resides in a small, do-nothing town, and is unranked in just about anything other than football.

The one example just provides my particular, detailed knowledge of their EE program.

I went to a Top 20 university. Trust me, rankings aren't everything (but I still think they're somewhat important). The only people that know rankings are potential/current students and people in academia.

I would say in my opinion of course UT is better than OU. But you make it sound as if they are completely worthless.

I would say in my opinion of course UT is better than OU. But you make it sound as if they are completely worthless.

Rankings are not important in the sense of #6 is not significantly better than #16 or #26 or #46. It's the extent at which you utilize your education that matters most.

But the fact that their academic programs, to my knowledge, are unranked in every single category is unfortunate. The only reason the national merit floors exist in OU dorms is because they were essentially bribed and sometimes parents would take a free education for their children over a good one.
