I finally finished the NOD Stockpile mission. it was a piece of cake after i got over to the southeastern base. the firehawks really helped.

the last mission is really hard too but i finished that one too. Now I gotta fight the Scrin! haven't started that mission yet though.

Their Tripods come handy. You can capture these, so I ended up having like 20 of them for one mission.

This is very good info. Thanks!
if you want to apply the non-cd patch 1.03, do it at last.

NM I answerd my own question. Here is the official statement for the unofficial patch for Windows 2000 users. Ill just paste it in case anyone is as ancient as me using a windows 2000 rig.

For the people using Windows 2000, I've created an unofficial patch which fixes the Windows 2000 incompatibilities in Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. This patch works with CNC3 versions 1.0 and 1.1, and should allow you to play CNC3 if you receive any of the following errors:

- The procedure entry point GetVolumePathNamesForVolumeNameW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
- ***FATAL*** String Manager failed to initialized properly
- The dynamic link library gdiplus.dll could not be found in the specified path

You can download the patch here: http://www.voidshard.net/Xenkan/CNC3Patch/

If you want to be completely up to date, I recommend the following steps:

1) Install CNC3 v1.0 from DVD
2) Install Xenkan patch
3) Run Command & Conquer 3
4) Choose Multiplayer -> Online
5) CNC3 will install v1.1 patch
6) Install Xenkan patch again

Please reply and let me know if this patch works for you. If any EA folks are interested in how this patch works, or possibly integrating these fixes into a future official patch, feel free to contact me. I'll do what I can to help!

I've also made a patch that allows you to play the C&C3 demo on Windows 2000 if you want to make sure the full game will run on your computer before buying it: http://www.voidshard. net/Xenkan/CNC3DemoPatch/

Man. If there is anyone who wants to test their skills, play the computer in scrim mode on "brutal difficulty". All I have to say is, wow. Played like 10 games now vs a brutal, and they are impossible to beat. If there is anyone that can take on brutal, you have my respect.

Starting the bonus Scrin campagin now! Am I the only one who thought the Nod ending wasn't as good as expected?

Seconded, complete crap IMHO.

Although no worse than the first ending I got from STALKER because I had "too much" money.

Whats a good way to take down the Nod turrents in their temple mission? Even with mammoths and artillery right behind them, they are out of range. And coming by air with firehawks or orcas merely lets them all open fire at once.

good game but hard in the later missions.

How did you guys beat the mission where you had the low power base without a construction yard? i'm mainly interested in hearing how you took out the base in the lower right corner. that was a bitch because there's no way to get to it by land, and they have tons of AA emplacement and AA units, so getting any air units up there was hard.

For GDI, I started on normal difficulty, but switched to hard after a few missions. I've noticed the only really difficult parts of missions are in the beginning (e.g. fending off attacks in the beginning w/ a small base). Once you get over that initial hump, it's clear sailing.

Anyway, for that low power base mission, I turned off the anti air turrets and a few of the watchtowers, but left the guardian turrets on. I replaced the anti air turrets and watchtowers with rocketmen and riflemen in sandbag emplacements. That way I didn't have to worry about constantly shifting power. Once it comes time to fetch the MCV, make sure to load up apcs with lots of riflemen to fend off the fanatics.

1.04 patch is out.

http://www.commandandconquer.com/community/patches/default.aspx

Edit -

Optimizations

--Made further improvements to video playback on low-end Windows XP system configurations. Bug Fixes

--Fixed an error that caused some players to crash or disconnect while in online lobbies.

--Fixed an error that caused players with semicolon (';'), colon (':'), comma (','), or equal sign ('=') characters in their Online IDs to not be able to see and select options from dropdown menus in online multiplayer lobbies. These characters are no longer permissible in Online IDs.

--Fixed an error that caused players to desync when watching a BattleCast match in which one of the participants disconnected.

Other Fixes

--All online multiplayer game lobbies will now appear properly localized in different languages.

I load up the game, the screen goes black, and I'm back in vista. I click on the task bar, hear the music loading up, and again, back to task bar. Any ideas how to fix this? using latest nvidia drivers and the latest patch.

Using Vista.

MB ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe NF4SLI
VGA EVGA 7950GT KO 512-P2-N635-AR R
Intel E6600 2.4G processor
2gig ram

ForceWare Vista 101.70 (32-bit) (Tried with 100.95/101.41 also).

Question for those who've played it extensively: If you complete all mission objectives, including bonus objectives, are subsequent missions effected?

is it just me or do the NOD missions seem pretty lackluster? I enjoyed the GDI missions but NOD is boring. The units suck ass too. they can barely scratch the surface of what the GDI units can do.

Nope, but I tried to do every single bonus mission anyway. Sometimes (in the later levels) they are actually helpful, but some are just meaningless.

Thats what I thought initially as well, but later on you play some fun levels. I did feel though that the ending was lame. NOD's infantry is abysmal though IMO, and their tanks are terrible as well, I did however love their Vertigo bombers and venoms, and their avatars are nice too(aren't as good as mammoths though). They also have good base defenses. Generally, I found myself either spamming Avatars or Vertigo Bombers/Venoms(with laser upgrade).

I just started playing, like 3 missions in on the GDI side and I'm impressed with how it's running on my system. I've got it at 1680x1050, and most settings on medium with a few on high and it runs perfectly. AMD64 3000+, 1GB RAM, GeForce 6800. So far I really like the old C&C feel it has, but we'll see what happens as I go.

well, i just finished the 1st NOD mission where the Scrin show up and I'm still unimpressed. the commando mission where you blow up the carrier was fun but thats the only one so far.

Have to say this is one of the best games I've played in a long time! Love it on my 46" sharp Aquos at 1920x1080 1080p. Nothing beats this game, you have to play it on a hi def set, it will blow you away!

Man, I haven't played C&C in a long time; and I'm getting my refresher course online... I'm getting absolutely owned..
Prolly cause the last one I played was Generals (crappiest C&C ever).

*hint* Expansion coming soon.

Yea, the ending sucked arse. Am I the only one who find the missions too easy or lacking tactical flavor? I mean I just build a superweapon structure and just nuke them and it's over.

Playing the Scrin now...
