The good part about I/O Magic rebate is you can go to their site, fill out a form, and the rebate come within a month.

I thought people are having problems with Aureal sound cards in W2K with VIA KT133 chipset.

If you want a good card for W2K get the Maxi Muse Sound Card for 30 bucks.
I work at comp and I have heard that the Hi-Val card sucks....not sure though

Are these rebates good only for sunday and money? And can you get the rebates (like print them) when buying online?

I just called the CompUsa 800 # and spoke to a rep. He swore up and down that the PNY RAM is $50 and not going on sale. Are you guys sure it's gonna be $30.00?

dANt3R, the free memory and most of the other 2 day free deals are in store only according to the ads that we have seen.

Went to my local CompUSA today. Asked for the RAM by SKU#271005. Guy got out a PNY box. Told him I wanted 2. He couldn't find another so went in back and got 2 CompUSA brand. Said they were the exact same thing - different package, SKU#280956. The thing is the ad posted at idealwiz shows that the RAM is in a CompUSA package but the SKU# listed below is for the PNY package. Sooooo . . . I guess I won't know until tomorrow if what I got is good for the rebate or not since none of their rebates were put out yet.

Great post - THANKS!! I bought a couple of the 64 MB PC133 SDRAM sticks this afternoon and noticed that although they have the same SKU's, the chips on 1 stick were Hyundai and the other had Infineon on it - got the Hyundai's replaced easily with a matching PC133 stick with Infineon chips - it probably does not make any difference but what the hey . .

Buybye - how much did you pay for that RAM? $49.95? According to this group, it's going on sale for $30 tomorrow morning - why compUSSR would drop the price almost $20 is beyond me (unless they know this RAM really sucks bad and they wanna get rid of it quickly). I know I'll be asking for SKU # tomorrow and see what's up...but I'd wonder why a rep would say PNY and compusa brand are the same....isn't PNY just a other company out there (but then again, I have no idea who makes RAM form compusa and then packages it w/compusa name). I guess we'll all be suckers or winners tomorrow morning.....

CompUSA sometimes drops the price on sale items from their regular price to the sale price then applies a rebate. Sometimes they call it an "instant rebate" or a "price break" or they just drop the price and don't say anything. In the case of this memory, they will drop the price from $49.99 to $29.99 then apply the $30 rebate for the two days of this special sale. They did this with the 100pk TDK CDR two weeks ago.

PNY packages memory for CompUSA to sell under their own brand. When you look at the packaging side by side you will see it is physically the same. Just the printing on the package is different. One says PNY and the other says CompUSA.

paradox0521 - Yeah, I paid $49.99 each. From reading another thread some are saying that the stuff on sale tomorrow is in either a PNY pkg or a CompUSA pkg, BUT the SKU's are the same. Guess whatever the guy gave me is the wrong stuff and I'll be returning it. Hope they have some of the sale ones left.

First time I've ever seen the CUsa deals NOT show up in the online compusa.com system... NONE of the discounts are reflected.

I hope this isn't a regional thing, as I'm heading down to the store before they open.

I thought we online were bad, but I just got back from the compusa in edison, Nj, and people were lined up (about 200) before the store opened. And then they all ran to get their PNY compusa brand infineon memory. I wasn't that worried enough to wait in line for it, so I grabbed ther TDK cd-rs and the hi-val pci sound card....when they announced you could also get the memory at register one. I was right there so..... I got 64mb pc133; $29.99 for free after rebate. Cool deal.

One question about the sound card, does it perform at all close to the sb live value or is it pretty much the same as an on-noard chipset? Anyone? Bueller? Thanks fellas

Is this PNY ram in the 32x4 design like the ValueRam PC133 from buy.com? I want to know if this PNY ram will work with my Valueram I bought from buy.com a few weeks ago.

Also, is it certain now that the rebate is one per person? And you may only buy one stick of 64MB and get one $30 rebate?

I got the Compusa Brand pkg 64MB PC133 sku # 280956 on Friday because they did not have any of the PNY pkg. What is the SKU # for the 64MB PC133 that they are giving out today?

Just got back from one of the Manhattan CompUSAs and Staples. Staples was a ghost-town though CompUSA had a line before opening of about 25 and a line inside of everybody waiting for the RAM. Picked up a NIC, and the WD 30GB ATA100 drive/Zip100 combo. Lets hope those rebates don't take forever.
