My system with a Future Power 400W power supply screeches everytime I power up. With those screetches, everything in my room resets, and sometimes the light dims for a bit. Just now my computer shut down and screeched while playing Counterstrike. I have one of those power centers that you can put under your monitor. I'm not sure if it's the power center that's screeching or my computer power supply. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your input.

Figure out which one is making the noise and burn it (or just replace it).

How many appliances do you have in your room? Do you have a lot of multi-plugs (is your pc running on an 8 way extension or something like that).

I have 8 devices plugged into my eight way extension and it has one of those power usage bars and it only goes up to just over half when my pc is under load and most of the devices are on (300w psu).

Is the fan working okay on your PSU, that can result in high pitched noises if it's not being cooled properly.

What is this power centre?

Thanks for the replies guys. This is something like what I have under my monitor Control Center. I have 2 surge protectors. One goes into an UPS and has 6 devices, and 5 from the control center, so the UPS is basically backing up 11 devices I think the cooling is sufficient inside my case, the PS fan works fine, and I have 2 case fans and a slot fan inside. I also have another surge protector going into a power splitter (that allows you to plug 3 devices into one wall jack). So all in all, I have about 15 or 16 things in my room (crazy me ). I live in the projects, so I don't have to pay electricity. My computer is basically on all day and all night. Now that I think about it, I think it might be the UPS because it can't handle so many devices. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

You seem to have too many things running thru the UPS, Most only back up 3 devices. Not to mention that you have too much draw on the circuit in the room, it is probably a 15 amp circuit and that 400 watt power supply draws about 4 amps by it's self. Also low voltage on a line can cause a UPS to beep. You should have someone check your lines to make sure you are not headed for more problems.

Having a surge protector plugged into a non PURE sine wave UPS is a BIG no no! There is a very good chance that when the UPS goes to battery it could damage itself and all the connected equipment. Plug those sure protectors into the wall not the UPS. If you need more backed up outlets get a power strip that does not have surge protection.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking abour re-arranging my connections. It does seem like the UPS is having a lot more than it can handle.
