I recently built a new computer for a friend and it's been having issues. It would sometimes freeze on me and after rebooting the computer from a frozen state it would freeze while loading the OS. It takes several attempts before I'm able to boot the computer without it freezing. It'll usually boot up if I leave the computer off for about 10 min or longer. Everytime I run a virus scan it will freeze after a few minutes. It runs memtest looped several times without any errors. CPU temp: 104ºF average Case temp: 89ºF
Setup:
MSI K7N2 Delta
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
(2x256) 512 MB PC-3200 Kingston Value RAM
eVGA GeForce 4 MX 440 AGP
13 GB Seagate
24X CD-ROM
Antec 350W
Would a larger watt power supply fix the problem or should I try re-loading the OS on a different hard drive? I have about 6 other hard drives lying around but I had problems installing XP. Files wouldn't copy so I tried different hard drives until it installed.
