From what I can read, the machine was a high-ender.

It's possible, I believe team AMD did it with their system on display at one of those major events with coverage from Tom's Hardware.
I'm thinking about it myself, I just don't know if I can trust it not to explode on me.

meh, someone did that with another liquid. Vegetable oil will leave everything slimy when they take it out.

i would think that once the oil started to warm up it might act like a insulator, keeping the system warm.... (this is not based on any technical info, just a hunch.)

they use mineral oil. I odnt know what mineral oil it, but it is obviously non-conductive. Heat wise i think it is a great idea. All liquids will have a large heat capacity,(far higher than air) so everything in the system will be the exact same temp(the cpu may be 2C higher or something.. Then all you would need is a radiator of some sort and some fans the mix the liquid around and you should be golden. I predict in the future, this will be very common for computer.

It wont be common because of weight issues, if there was a way to have it done with water... it would be more popular (with a protective bag around mobo)

still water cooling is the most they will get to that will be practical. i would think they have to pump it so it doesn't develpor bacteria and odor.

Vegetable oil leaves a really sticky residue. Granted all oil will leave a residue but veggie oil has lots of impurities compared to something like mineral oil...very hard to clean up. Not to mention the fact that veggie oil smells. Interesting to do but I wouldn't subject any hardware I planned to keep long term to that type of ordeal.

It wont be common because of weight issues, if there was a way to have it done with water... it would be more popular (with a protective bag around mobo)

Mineral oil is less dense than water and therefor lighter, so i assume that you didnt mean water was a good idea because of weight...

ok im bored and i have a p2 that ill test it with i have a shell dealer 7 miles from me if the oil is cheap im gonna do it if it dosent fry my p2 i have a tbird 1.2 that ill try oc in it
i hate my epox ep-8rda anyways iv been looking for something to do iv already made a lotof window modded harddrives iv run out of mod ideas so this will be fun ill keep you all posted
