Computer only boots up cold

Hi all,
I've found that my computer will only boot up from a cold boot, and only if it's been powered off for at least a few minutes. If I do a normal reboot, it gets stuck on the POST screen.

What is odd is that when this occurs, the boot screen lists a duplicate of each of my three drives. First they are listed on IDE channels 0 and 1 (they are sata drives), which is normal, but then it shows them listed again after it says "detecting IDE drives". It says they are also on ide channels 4 and 5. It is at this point the machine freezes or proceeds very slowly. During a normal boot, they aren't listed twice. Normally, only my plextor dvd-rom (IDE) drive should be in the second section.

I've tested each stick of ram with memtest for about half an hour (one pass) and no errors and have tried different slots on the mobo. I've tried another PSU. I removed the CPU, reapplied thermal grease, and reseated it with the cpu fan/heatsink. I've tried booting with no hard drives or the dvd drive attached, but none of this has made a difference.

I'm looking at temperatures with HWMonitor and the CPU is about 26 C and system around 38 C while idle. I haven't tried updating the BIOS or resetting to defaults but not sure if that would matter since it's worked fine for a while. System is not overclocked.

Any help appreciated.

My specs:
Gigabyte P35-DS4
Intel Q6600
2x2GiB G.Skill DDR2 (PC2-6400 5-5-5-15)
Asus GeForce 9800GT
Corsair 520HX PSU

Hi! First try resetting to default. if that don't do it. reset CMOS. and only boot with primary hd and dvd. then if everything is correct.plug in others hd.
(what OS are you running)

Do you have any memory cards (possibly used for Ready Boost) or external USB drives attached when you try a warm reboot? If so, disengage them and try the reboot. I have seen USB drives and some memory cards halt the reboot process. Just a thought.

No, in fact I've disconnected everything except the motherboard, cpu, video card, memory, and PSU and the problem still occurs. It'll boot up the first time from a cold boot, but say I go into the BIOS and exit it. It will freeze when it tries to POST again.

I have seen this once or twice before, the first time the board was about 6 yrs old and had some bulging caps and the other time was when some devices that weren't even attached to the computer were showing up on the boot order or under "other boot devices". Once I removed or rather told the BIOS to ignore the ghost devices all was well.

up the memory voltage a little.

If I do that, is there any other adjustment I need to make to the RAM in the bios settings at the same time?

My RAM requires 1.8-1.9V and the BIOS says it's somewhere between those. Is it ok if I push it over 1.9? If I use the smallest increment (0.05V) I think that will happen.
