Computer Randomly Restarts

I ran a memory test and it passed perfectly. I've tried two different video cards, it is a fresh install of windows. The only other parts are like the HD, Motherboard, PSU. It is an MSI Neo4 Platinum motherboard, and an Antec Sonata case with like a 350w antec PSU.

If it's XP turn off automatic reboots so you can see a BSOD.

Sometimes it is some changes you did with the system that causes random restarts or heat issues. Did you install any new devices before the random restarts happened? Updating drivers especially video drivers may help resolve it. Good luck!

Well, I didn't make any system changes as far as hardware or software goes. I'm running prime 95 and it is about to finish it's 3rd test, which I know isn't long enough to say for sure, but as quickly and often as this thing has been going down, I don't think it's very likely that it's the cpu. I'm left thinking it's the motherboard or PSU.

I've turned off the auto rebooting but the computer still rebooted without showing a blue screen. Then on the next boot the option gets checked again, so I'll see if i can get it to actually show me something.

I would put money on it being either the mobo or the power supply, leaning more towards the latter.

Make sure you have BSODs turned on... go to the Advanced tab of System Properties in the Control Panel and click on Settings under "Startup and Recovery." Uncheck "Automatically Restart."

Clear the BIOS. I know this is a recent board but do look very closly for bulged or vented caps, particularly the 8~12mm ones near any FET or VRM. The ones smaller than 8mm rarely have issues. Pics at http://www.motherboardrepair.com/ Read the symptoms for caps going out there. Try a different PSU if you can. Only the NeoHEs are worth a hoot or WOOT!

If it is the PSU. Don't open it. Contact member AntecCSR for an RMA. Then keep it for bench testing fans or sell it.
