I got back from a trip and my pc kept locking up out of nowhere. I un-over clocked my video card and adjusted some bios settings -- and then I started getting 3 long beeps at start up and it wouldn?t boot.
I swapped the memory slots (3 long beeps means bad sector in first 64k of memory) and the beeps went away... but now, when I try to boot into regular windows, it says I need to 'repair'.
However, if I boot into safe move, the windows installation disk, or ERD commander, the computer automatically reboots as soon as it tries to initialize the display!
the bios can display, but it seem that as soon as the bios tries to hand the display over to the OS (whatever it may be), but computer immediately soft-reboots!
I have no idea what to do! I am RMAing my mobo and memory b/c I?ve had problems with them for a long time, but there is some data that I have neglected to back up that I need to get to.
I have tried 2 agp and 1 pci video cards -- and the exact same thing happens!
I have a striped SATA raid for the data I want to get to -- is there any other way to get at that data? Will the array remain intact if I move it to a different computer and try to access the data?
Any ideas? Any of you genius tech gurus know what's happening at that moment -- the moment when, in windows 2k, the screen changes from the dos, white progress bar to the windows loading screen?
Please help!
I have dual opterons in an msi k8t master 2 far, ocz ecc memory, and I?ve tried 3 different video cards.
Thanks ahead of time!
