I got an ultra xFinity 600w psu, 2 gigs of pqi ram, an Ausu p5n-e sli mobo, and Core 2 duo e6550. To make a long story short, it doesnt work. I turn it on, and it goes right off again within a second or two. I dont think it gets to POST. I know all the components were working a few weeks ago except I cant test the processor, but the same thing happens with a working e4300. It does work though with a Pentium D 805 with which I updated the bios to 703 (latest) and was able to install windows.
I bought the Asus p5n-e with the e4300 expecting it to work. After I tried it and it wouldnt start, I did some research and found since my motherboard is "rev 1.01 G" it probably shouldnt work with it cause the asus processor support list says the e4300 is rev M0. Pentium D 805 worked and is B2, so I assumed the e6550 wouldd work since it says rev. G0.

Here's the cpu support list: http://support.asus.com/cpusup...n-us&model=P5N-E%20SLI
I am guessing now I might have been wrongly associating processor stepping with motherboard revision. But in that case it should work anyway I'd think. Any help would be great.
