Computer science or Chemistry?

Chemistry...there's a HUGE glut of people in CS now, and chemistry (and the things it leads to: med school, biochemistry, etc.) is a field where people will ALWAYS be needed.

probably a good idea to avoid cs unless you love cs and are confident that you can do better than most people

well, i'm gonna declare CS next semester just for the freebies that come to a CS major, from my school, but after that, i'm not sure what i want... i like computer science, but chemistry has better job oppertunities (cause noone's willing to do it)

Any major that will get you into the healthcare field will pretty much guarantee you a good paying job for a long time.

Chemistry would require more hardwork and homework but would provide a bigger payday in the long run. Good luck to ya.

Go with what you like best - even if you graduate with a CS degree and can't find CS work, there are lots of other employers that could use a person with the discipline and general skills of a software engineer.

Keep in mind that if you go into Chemistry, you can still take CS on the side (I think that most science majors have to take programming courses anyways to satisfy some sort of degree requirement).

Either way, you can't go horribly wrong!

I'm currently a CS major
it was a fun subject(math/computers) and i was good at it.

I may have been better in other fields but they were unfun:beer:

lots of cs majors and lesser jobs. However if you are good at cs then you will always have a job. I am not sure what you will do with chemistry but it always works out. If you can handle it, then double major would be good.

I think you need to speak to a consoler, or some one related in the field your looking into.

To me Comp Science as a major then chemistry as a minor doesn't make any sense.

Yeah, not much you can do with a Chem minor besides know a bit more about chem than all your software engineer coworkers.

Personally, I'd say neither. If you like Chemistry, go for Chem Engineer. It's harder, but you get more pay straight out of college. Chem majors straight out of college don't have many options besides go take more school, so if you're up for that, then go for it.
