Computer Won't Post

Hi,
I built a rig just over a year ago. It's an Asrock z77 extreme 4, i5-3570k, GSkill Ripjaws X series 4 x 8 gig, Samsung 840 pro SSD, Rosewill Green Series 630W PS, no video card, just used onboard graphics.
It's always run great, but yesterday while it was on, I walked away for a few minutes, and when I got back, it was powered off.
I restarted, the fans turn on, but there's no post no beep, nothing on screen. I get a dr debug error code of A2, which is for IDE detect.
I checked all connections, no post.
Tried unplugging all Sata devices, except boot drive, and swapped 1 or 2 sticks of ram in every memory slot combination, still no post. Cleared the CMOS, still no post. Checked the HD in my other system, and I'm able to access it, so I think the HD is ok.
I'm guessing its either the mobo or the power supply. I guess I can install the PS in my other system to see if it starts it up. Don't know why either would fail in just a year.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

I did some looking and a lot of people are saying this error actually is tied to video. Make sure the video connections on the board are secure. If that doesn't work, I would try seeing if it would run on a dedicated video card.

I've searched posts also, but it seems these are tied to new builds. When you say check connections, I'm using graphics from the processor, so which connections would I check?

The graphics output connections on the back of the board.

I checked the graphics output connections, and everything seems secure.
Unfortunately I can't test the videocard from my older system, it's a P4 with an AGP graphics card, so it's too old. I really can't see going out and buying an onboard videocard as a test. The system shut down while running, isn't that stronger evidence of a failure of either mobo, power supply or ram??

OK, did you check the mounting screws and standoffs? Make sure there isn't a short on the board or case.

Can't see how it could be standoffs, built this a year ago and it's worked great. I looked around for shorts, but don't see any.

I installed the power supply from my other, working computer, and unfortunately, no change, no post, same A2, IDE Detyect error message.
Is my only recourse now to try a new motherboard?

Remove ALL sata cables, including your boot drive. Will it POST and enter bios now? Do the same for all your usb ports and any other motherboard headers. Try a different video output (DVI, VGA, HDMI).

I removed all sata cables, including boot drive, headers, etc. no luck. I can't try a different video output, because I wasn't using a dedicated videocard, I was using graphics through the processor. So it looks like its down to either the mobo or processor. How can I differentiate to figure out which one died? I don't have a second matching system to swap these items out into. I've read that usually a processor won't just 'die' on a working system. Is that usually the case, would it be more likely that the mobo just died??

P.S. If I remove all the memory sticks I do get a long beep with the error code for missing memory in dr debug.

That's what most posts, and even computer tech say, that usually a working processor won't die, unless you're overclocking which I'm not. If a CPU is bad, it's bad out of the box. I really like this ASrock board, but I think I'm going to switch to an Asus. What's your opinion?

I just checked Asrock support page, and it says that this mobo has a 3 YEAR WARRANTY!!! I was assuming I was out of warranty range after 1 year. No Asus this time.

I have the same mobo and since it has the nice reset, power, & clear CMOS buttons on it I would just try a post quick before you box it up for return (after you have it removed from the case). Just hook the bare essentials to it and make sure the board's junk before you send it in. I have been really impressed with everything about this board but for the thin PCB but I knew that before I bought it. Good luck!
