computer won't switch on

Someone dropped a computer off with me. It won't switch on. The green light on the motherboard comes on, but nothing else happens.

Sometimes the fans spin around briefly when I disconnect the power.

I've tried another power supply which I know to be good.

It's an Asus K8V SE Deluxe so going back a bit.

Am I right to assume that it's going to be a problem with the motherboard or the processor? If so, which is more likely?

First take a look here and be sure the clear cmos jumper is in the "normal" position and not on the "clear" pins.

If thats ok, id go ahead and clear the cmos, then move the jumper back to "normal" then i'd short the two pins on the mobo where the power cable from the case connects with a screwdriver just to be SURE its not a faulty power switch. (just touch the two pins together with a screwdriver for a second or two to test , dont leave the screwdriver there or else it will act like holding the power switch in and turn the pc right back off)

If both of those fail, then pull mobo out and try on a table to be sure nothing is shorting out on the case.

After that its reseat cpu / memory and everything else time.
