Concerned with static on carpet

There seems to be an excessive amount of static on my new carpet and I'm bringing my computer there shortly. Anything I can purchase or make on my own to prevent my tower from getting shocked?

Provided your house is wired correctly the power cable grounds your computer and it should be safe.

In addition, you can place rubber mat or place the case on plastic wheels. But the grounding is your best and safest way to avoid static electricity.

proper grounding it the best.

there are also anti static sprays you can spray on your carpet but as ive never used them I cant comment on how well they work.

You have nothing to worry about as long as the case is closed.

You should never work inside your PC on that carpet even if the PC is grounded. Otherwise, you are taking chances! Either way, when working on your PC inside the case, make sure you frequently touch the metallic part of your case to safely bring your body and the PC to the same potential.

But do not run the computer with a panel or two off.
