I see, but even the basic models of these are a little epensive. i already have a gaming pc. i just need a cheap pc that can be used 24/7 without me worrying about it.

Your tight budget locks you into making compromises.
You can find refurbished P4 Dells on ebay for less than $175 shipped that have a 1 year warranty.

The $140 MSI Wind barebones is about the cheapest you'll find, it just needs RAM, HD, DVD, and Windows. Of course that brings it above to the price of a Dell or a $300 XP Netbook.

You can't always get what you want :music:

InWinBM639 case newegg 84.99

Kingston ValueRAM 2GB (2 x 1GB) newegg 19.99

Intel BOXD945GCLF2 Atom 330 Intel 945GC Mini ITX Motherboard/CPU Combo newegg 79.99

Western Digital Caviar Green WD6400AACS 640GB newegg 69.99

not bad for 250.00 ish, not including OS, you could get a Dell Inspiron 530 for 279.00 with Vista home.

Yeah especially if you want a Windows OS, you probably won't be able to do better than a prebuilt. You might check out the Dell Outlet. They sell customer returns and refurbished systems, but quality is great. They also come with the same warranty as new systems.

I have a Refurb like this that I upgraded the memory to 1GB, put 1TB drive and installed Windows Home Server. It works for almost year and I do not see the difference (for what I use it for) between the Refurb and my fancy Quads.

On the Plus side it is very small, very quite and does not advertise it self with Flashing LEDs

I'd go for the 4850e. Cost is about the same (maybe $3-$4 cheaper) and it consumes less power. Also it's the cheapest dual-core AM2 to include a factory cooler.

Hell, you could even do a retail Sempron LE for $30 shipped, but I doubt a single-core CPU is worth the small savings even on an ultra-budget PC.

In terms of a dollar amount, define exactly what you mean by "ultra cheap" and "super cheap".

Not to be confused with the "super ultra cheap" and "ultra super cheap" models. Or "ultra cheap super" ... ah heck, just find a refurbished Dell.

anything below 200$ is good for me. worse to worse, 300$ but not more than that. and i am talking abt a new pc not a a refurbished one.
