Okay...so here's the deal, this is just mainly for you guys to have fun with since i would love to do it on my own but I don't have time to do it between work, school work, and deadlines.

Here are somethings that I DO NOT need, since they will be moved over to the new computer, making more $ for goodies.

I have the following:

-Antec Super LANBoy Case (350w power supply, 20pin connector, no PCI-E connector)
- 80gb EIDE HDD (Western Digital)
- 120gb SATA HDD (Western Digital)
- 512mb Kingston PC3200 DDR
- 1gb Kingston PC3200 DDR
- SONY DVD-RW
- HP DVD-RW w/LightScribe
-8x AGP ATI Graphics card... 256mb (Don't remember it off hand)
- Floppy Drive
- 19" Widescreen LCD Monitor
- Keyboard & Mouse

Now I spend my days surfing the net, a lot of time in such programs as Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator. I do video editing as well as the occasional round of Half-Life2 when I can find an actual spare minute...although thats been about a year now. I've been an AMD Fanboy for almost 10 years. Ideally, I need to have parts ordered so I can get them here by Saturday (March 3rd) to get it built and some work done. My 3.5yr old Dell Laptop doesn't cut it in the graphics department.

Thanks a bunch and I know you guys will have fun w/it...I know i do when i have spare time. If not, offer up any words of direction on whats good for hardware these days....My last PC i built was a socket 754 AMD 64 3000 back when that was relatively new.

So sorry if i missed something here but what exactly are you looking for? A processor and mobo are the only thing that you seem not to have. Though you said you were an AMD fanboy why not get one of these four mobos here
and a Core 2 duo proc such as this one, or maybe even a cheaper processor and upgrade your video card.

Thanks AVP, I should hav cleared that up. I'm basically looking to build a quick replacement computer since my motherboard in this setup just died. I state what i've got for a video card because I noticed that a lot of motherboards don't have AGP on them as much anymore. That and I'm totally not up on any of the latest hardware like I used to be.

Or here's an Intel build, about the same price, but would require you to sell/trade that ddr for some ddr2, if you're willing to go intel, that is.

e4300 - $170
7600gt - $90
Gigabyte S3 - $110

Thanks a lot yh125td. I like that AMD setup. If my memory serves me correct, Operton cpu's are server grade right?

I looked at the:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester 2.0GHz Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3800BVBOX - Retail

and the difference between that and the Operton 165 dual core was $40, L2 Cached (1mb x 2 vs 512k x 2), a whopping 200mhz, and the HT (huh?) (1000mhz vs 2000mhz). Will this process wield a noticable difference?

Hrm...the setups would work....except now I just realized I would need a new power supply since these motherboards are 24 pin and my psu only has a 20pin connector. Ugh!
