im a complete n00b at overclocking a amd
ive been reading the overclocking guide on this forum and a couple of others cuz this is the first amd cpu ive ever got and i was confused about the htt and stuff could someone please explain this to me
at first i set the fsb to 250mhz and it booted up and 2.5ghz and ran fine but i never changed anything like voltage in the bios even though it says the default voltage is 1.4v for the cpu it was running at 1.67 and was stable. then after reading the guide i wanted to make sure i was getting as much as i could from my ram so i was going to follow instructions by setting the clock multiplyer down as said in the guide and increase the fsb so that i could find out where the memory would stop at but im confused about the following things
the motherboard is running the F4 version of the bios it came with it
when you press ctrl+f1 to get the advanced options under one of the menus where you get to set the ram latency and stuff theres something called the HT Multiplyer which goes up to x5 or Auto but under the MIB intelligent tweak menu in the bios theres something called K8 Cpu Multiplyer or something which lets you select another clock multiplyer , changing the HT multiplyer dosnt seem to have any effect on the cpu speed could someone please explain to me what the HT multiplyer is and what that K8 cpu multiplyer thing is ? or where i can read up more about this motherboard bios and overclocking with it ? also why did it decide to increase the voltage automatically ?
