connecting Vista to XP

Is there anything different that needs to be done to network a vist comptuer and an xp computer on a wireless network? I was having difficulty setting up a computer network, sharing files, etc...., the regular "File, Properties, Sharing," - or even setting up both on a network.

Is there one computer that must be set up first? This is my first time crossing this bridge...

i am curious about the setup process for this as well...

my XP PRO machine sees the public folders on my Vista machine, but the Vista machine does not see the XP box....

It does not matter since each computer Sharing is its own.

You need to patch Win XP so that Vista can communicate with better with the WinXP computer (see last link).

I installed the LDDT patch on the XP box and now I can see it from my Vista machine...

When I click on the icon to connect to it, it prompts me for user id/password for the XP box.

Where do I setup the user id/password on the XP box??

The only issue I had was with Vista's security crap that didn't allow anything but my Public folder to be viewed in network neighborhood, regardless of what settings I chose.

This is your problem Not Vista problem.

Vista would not let share critical secure content, but otherwise everything can be shared.

You can also create your own folder and share them in any way that you like.
Usually when the cognitive effort that is spent on profanity is put into productive thinking, a solution can be derived.
