somewhere in the near/distant future.

Assuming I can find a nice place to live/work in Brisbane or Sydney. The $ benefits will be immediate, there are no Hot Deals in Australia except for maybe on a Kangaroo Burger

I wouldn't be able to drive (bye bye 2002 Honda Accord SE) for at least 1-2 years until I got used to driving on the wrong side of the road. I'd probably spend more time exploring the outdoors (since it doesn't rain 9 months out of the year) and RossWIFE would be closer to her family.

I can kiss good bye to the latest & greatest electronic/computer toys but I'd probably take my desktop, 19" LCD, laptop and Canon A40 with me.

You only get 1 chance in a lifetime, I figure fsck it and do it.

Whaddya think?

Go for it. PAB & Associates can capitalize off the new export channel to introduce Aussies to the wonders of DVI and such.

Well moving is often a fun thing to do (actually it's f**king stressful, but later on looking back it can be fun). I'm glad that we moved to the US even if we don't necessarily stay here. Do you think you would like Australia? I guess your wife likely hates being away from family, so which of you two could handle that the most? Australia is nice I suppose, though I've never been.

Go for it!

You will get all the cool cars you can't here like the 206, WRX STI(Rumored to be coming)

Plus being as close as you would be to Asia I am sure you will get some deals on computers

I don't think you would lose much, but gain a hole new culture and experience.

I would do it if I could, but it would be Brisbane for me...there is another reason I would like to experience

Thanks for the positive feedback so far

RossWIFE would probably prefer living in her home city of Canberra (the capital city of Australia) but I want a medium to large city to work and live in.

It wouldn't necessarily be a permanent move, maybe for a few years but I think it'd be great.

lowtech - Just curious, why would you choose Brisbane? That's where her sister lives, so that'd be cool.

Unless you stay there it will set you back financially I'm sure, so that's something to consider, but it would be a nice fun experience.

agreed. i can't imagine making such a huge change in living like going from US to Australia. i guess if that's what you want (and what RossWIFE wants ), go for it.

The climate is a little warm for me, but I wouldn't mind adjust just to be there with a ?friend? that is getting a master at University of Queensland.

Rossman I've been to both Aussie and NZ. My choice would be NZ. They have a US style constitution which was recently ratified and much cheaper prices.

Why move? you already live in "gods country" oregon?

Sounds good RossMAN, you are young, there is nothing holding you back...I'd say go for it!

Then again, I left Canada for Alabama!

Go for it!

I'm considering moving abroad myself, as the entire telecom industry in North America is not hiring. I'd have to sell my house and car, but hey... you only live once.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice.

If I had, we wouldn't be here....maybe a state at least a little more closer to home...

It's not that bad here for electronic gadgets, some things you get cheaper than over there (proximity to asia helps) but then you also don't always get the latest and greatest.

Don't go to Canberra, it's a boring city, plus it has no beaches . Brisbane or Sydney aren't too bad.

And what you mean there's no Hot deals? I picked up 6 Gamecube games for $75 US brand new about 2 weeks ago. And I'm sure your extensive trading talents will find a way.

RossMAN,

You'll be all lost without ATOT and Hot Deals. I bet you'll go crazy within a week without all the hot deals

Good Luck,

Ive traveled all around the world and i wouldn't want to live in any other country besides the US.

BTW Autralia isn't as technologically backwards as you think. In fact a lot of places are are very high tech.

They are just a bit better than a third world country, but they do have running water, electricity, and the internet.
