Why don't you visit for two weeks and decide if you like it.

Here is the deal.

From $1799, choose from two packages including:
> Round-trip economy class airfare from Los Angeles on Qantas Airways
> All domestic airfares in Australia
> 4 nights accommodation in Sydney
> 4 nights accommodation in Cairns
> 4 nights accommodation in Melbourne or 4 nights in Adelaide/Kangaroo island.

Add-on Packages
Add-on Packages to Tasmania, Ayers Rock, Darwin and other regional Australian areas also available.

Book by March 31, 2003 and get...
Buy a 12-night vacation package featured on Qantas.Australia.com, and you get a free Sydney Harbour Coffee Cruise plus 5,000 bonus AAdvantage® miles per couple.

Prices
Prices start from $1799 per person, for travel 4/29-8/29/03. Prices for other dates available.

I wonder if there is a way of taking all my Delta skymiles and transferring them to Quantas...

Edit: for $500 more, Canadians can fly out of Vancouver

Oz - Awesome cuntry, sucky sports.

Most impressive of the large cities - Melbourne, because of the semi-European feel to it.

Perth is also a nice place, but far away from the rest of the world.

Unlike the US??!! Trust me, the United States is hell to get into. Legally at least.
Just ask the Skoorbs!
:frown: for crappy U.S. immigration policies that do nothing to keep illegal immigrants out, all the while keeping legal immigrants out with asinine red tape.

Is that in USD or ASD.
If it is in USD then it would be $3520CAD, or $3740ASD.

Yike!

Not really, the pay there as it is here it pretty pathetic.

Maybe I can get into computers/networking if we relocate there.

Roger - Shh or else you'll blow my cover

pyonir - I'll still see you here, my forums and on JiveDonkey.com besides you're still with that tramp Adul, aren't you?

N8Magic - Susan calls shrimp prawns, so it'll be prawn on the barby and no vegemite will be allowed within a 100km radius.

ICEVaPa - I've visited Australia and had a great time.

Do it. You can always go back to the US if you don't like it.
If I have a chance to live and work in another country (even for a year or so) I would not hesitate.
It can only broaden your horizon

Well if I could choose between Aussie land and where I'm now I'd go there hands down. But if I could move to France then hell no... I don't want to be stranded in the middle of nowhere with a population of only 16 million. Sorry.

I guess that crappy salary thing aside... you can prolly buy a sweet fun car to make us ATOT carfreaks jealous. Screw the Honda, I can see you and the missus in a Skyline GTS.

Also, I know some family friends over there... they say some of the Aussies are quite bigoted against Asians. If you go over, you could bitch slap some sense into them.

I lived in Melbourne for 10 years. It is simply an amazing place. The sights, the people, the general atmosphere, it's the best in the world.

Don't worry about driving on the left, you'll get used to it soon enough. And all the latest technology is available over there just as much as it is in the US or Europe, it's not some backwards far-off land.

I say, go for it.
