Ok so my old mobo failed so i replaced the mobo and cpu which is listed below. So my problems started with a doa so i rma'd and i upgraded to the V. Now the computer boots to bios and will load to the windows screen for one second and then restarts. This is running off the hdmi onboard. The mobo doesnt like my gpu. It wont even go to the bios with itinstalled. Not sure why so i disconnected it to see if i could get it working but it just gives me the problem above.

Anyone have an idea? I would grately appreciate it.

Asus p2z77-v
Intel core i5 3570k

And a bunch of wd 1tib hdd

It looks like to me you have a driver/hardware conflict... does it do the same thing if you try booting into Safe Mode? If all of your HDD's are connected try disconnecting them and leave just the one with Win on it. Are you hearing any noise at all from inside the case? How old is the drive that you load Windows on? You could disconnect it and try loading Win on a different drive to see if you can replicate the problem.

Drives are all bought in '08. I run system checks all the time though linux and they are fine.

I disconnected all the drives cept the one with windows and i get the same problem. Im running system repair right now and if that fails, reinstall windows. Its just weird, despite whatever i do it starts the restart loop right when it tries to start windows. Started it in safemode and it just retarted.

Let alone it the damn mobo hates my video card so much it wont even load bios with in installed. The red led turns on and it just sits there. But the leds in the gpu arent lit up which makes me believe that the gpu is just fine.

Update:: while tyiping this out on the ipad i decided to call Asus to see if they knew the problem and that was a bad idea. They told me to reset the CMOS and try again. Failed so they told me to RMA this board as well. Pathetic. Should of stuck with crappy Giga

Huh, I'm surprised ASUS gave up that easily but if they say to RMA it I guess you may as well do it. You said you checked the drives through Linux... is that on a different hard that's connected to the mobo?

Thats on the same drive but its not showing up for dual boot. So i reinstalled windows 7 and i am now installing the updated drivers off the mobo disk. Now i hope this will in turn fix the viedo card problem but i highly doubt it since it didnt even try loading it prior.

Ah, you may be caught in the MBR vortex caused by Linux/Win boot loader. I know it sounds odd that a boot loader can cause all kinds of problems. If it were me I would disconnect every drive and I'd install Windows on a clean formatted drive. My bet is if you do that and it will load.

It did. But a bigger problem, my video card is fried. I just borrowed a really old shitty one and it turns out my old mobo is just fine. Which is weird because my gpu always read low temps, leds never lit up like it alwas did if there was something wrong and all symptoms were pointing at the the mobo. Arg, bought new stuff for no reason.

[SOLVED] in a depressing way

Well, even if you didn't like the answer at least now you know. Hopefully you'll be free from any more problems.
