you know I bought 5 new 120mm 2000rpm Coolermaster fans for my Cosmos. Bloody thing was way too loud and the thing vibrated like mad. the sad thing was it dropped temps by maybe 7c. Not worth it for the noise.

I have been playing around with my Antec 300 on one of my crunching machines; most of the fans if you turn them up will actually create more heat to the cpu or will not make a difference at all.
You have to play around and find the happy medium, but for the Antec, lower speeds create the best cooling. on the cpu heatsink more is better for me though.
Even if I crank up the exhaust fans, it makes no difference. Kind of weird but the case cools really well.

I am currently doing research to see what my next case will be for another crunching machine and/or for my main system. I currently have at least 3 more cases I need to get

That is actually not a bad case. The video review at harwarecanucks gives a good overview of the features. I would like to see what the performance numbers are in terms of cooling, but it appears at least at glance that it would be pretty good.

so i got my case i went with the advanced. Case is awesome. However the hole for rentiontion bracket access for heat sinks doesnt line up with my board. I might take dremell to it to correct that then put rubber edging on it. havnt quite decided. Also if you hsf is taller than 5.5 inches you will not be able to make use of the top side panel fan

well ive looked for a new cooler that wasnt ridiclious tall. but they all suck. so i guess i just wont use that fan

Precious few coolers will allow a fan blowing on a tall cooler. It would have to be 9+ inches wide.

if i could find a decent one that was 92mm and did temps at like 37c id be fine any 120mm cooler will not work..it almost makes me wanna go to water if i could find a dull self contained unit that would fit inside the case that wasnt silly expensive id do it.

ok so with the asrock p55 series. the 1156 holes are not reachable however the 775 holes are.

I wonder if the side is easier to remove on this than on the original 690. My biggest frustration with my 690 is that taking on and off the side panel can be a huge pain. Especially when I just finish working on my Sonata III that has the side panel so easily removed and replaced. I wouldn't get it if it didn't fix this problem. From the pictures it looks like it's exactly the same.

I'm also not a huge fan of the mesh. It always seems so noisy and impossible to isolate any kind of noise. Personally I've done my time with the 690 and this one is far to similar to the first to persuade me into looking at it. My next case will likely be a P183 or a similar case that shares its features.

the 690-II is a huge upgrade to the 690....the mesh also has a glossy look. the main pannel was easy to get off any different then the 690 dont know. I do know that i want to come up with some kinda contact switch for the side fans. kinda like they have for the element s. the back panel on the other side was a little stiff to get off. but once looseded it came off freely as well

When you put the side panel on, do you have to line up the 6 different slots and slide them in together (3 on top and 3 on bottom)? This is what made it a pain. Usually only 4 or 5 would line up and the others would stick out and not lock into place. Once one or two of those mechanisms gets bent, it's all over. Even more frustrating was the little notch on the rear of the panel that would slide over a metal piece that stuck out on the back of the case to lock it into place. This simply did not fit on my case and I would have to bend the back of the panel over as much as possible to get it to slide over the notch, but 99% of the time this would force the slots at the front of the case to pop out. For this reason I leave the side panel on my case off half the time, and the other half it's not on correctly.

The sonata III on the other hand is as easy as opening and closing a door. You lift up the handle and it slides out. To put it back on you slide in the front and lift up the handle and gently lock it back into place. I don't know why all premium cases can't do it like this. Understandably most people won't care, but geeks like us who pay the premium and tinker inside all the time should demand it.

never had that problem on my 690, but i could see that happening really easy...this one seems to be easier in that regard but i could still it becoming a problem. but i believe this case is alot better built
