My computer connects to the Internet via an ActionTec DSL modem/wireless AP combo (through the wired ethernet port). I've noticed that after a few days of uptime, various websites will stop working ...it doesn't really seem like there's a pattern as to which websites will break (trying to access them will bring up a "This page cannot be displayed" error in IE), sometimes it's google, sometimes anandtech, sometimes ebay, etc., although once I notice that some sites are breaking, there is a very high probability that if I enter a URL for a site that I have not been to since restarting the modem, it will fail as well. I've also noticed that if I open up mIRC and do a /dns of a non-working URL and then try to access it via the IP address that I get, there is a very high probability that the "broken" site will suddenly spring to life. Also, resetting the modem (unplugging it and the plugging back in) fixes this problem completely (for the next day or so).
So anyways, my question is, what's the likely cause of this? Is there any way to prevent it from happening that doesn't involve severing my Internet conenction every couple of days? Is my modem just being crazy?
