I'm hearing a lot of bad things about Corsair lately.

German retailers pulling Corsair products off shelves.

Major problems with Corsair Rebates
Not just people not getting rebate checks but rebates for products one day are gone the next day. Like a bait then switch. Looks like a sharp increase in complaints about corsair rebates that started around October of last year but lately it seems to be out of control.

Rumor that one of the major USA distributors might drop them because of recent complaints.

Its not looking good for Corsair.

If you search they dont seem to carry any corsair now.

Also read the newegg replies about corsair rebates. You dont have to go far to see people complaining. Corsair seems to reply to power supply problems but doesn't seem to be replying to rebate problems on memory. I dont recall seeing so many complaints about corsair and they dont seem to be responding to the complaints.

I have bought a lot of corsair ram but I have to admit Im getting cold feet seeing all the complaints lately and hearing that they might get dropped from a major retailer because of the rebate complaints. Remember when CompUSA was sued over companies with bad rebates practices?

I bought 2 sets of ram with rebates within the last 6 months and got one back so far, the other was sent in 2 months later so it should be here any time.

That first link is the most useless bit of non-informative drivel I have read recently. Did you notice the distinct lack of details? I would rate that article as pure FUD minus the zilla.

As for Newegg reviews, if they were to be put into a public library, they would best fit into the fiction section. This is no bad reflection on Newegg which is a trusted and valued etailer of our products. But, due to the review system itself, those reviews are frequently exploited and a vast percentage of them are worthless. I would not place much value on them.

People have always complained about MIRs and always will. But, the resellers of the world tell us that they want us to offer rebated products so we do.

As for rebate complaints, Newegg has informed us that their review pages are not for rebate complaints and posting about them is in violation of their posting policy. They want end user feedback about the product and request that users with rebate complaints contact customer service as the review page is not a link to or method for obtaining customer service.

As far as our stability as a company, in spite of the global economy, we are doing well. Not only are we maintaining and improving our established product lines, we are offering new ones.

Buy Corsair without fear. And if you do have an issue, find me and I'll fix it.

As an information source, Fudzilla has a long track record of being fairly specious. Newegg reviews can be instructive, if taken with a grain of salt.

If possible, I recommend always initiating rebates on-line... it greatly increases your odds. Over a span of two years, I've received two out of two pre-registered Corsair rebates, with a third on the way.... within the specified 8-10 week timeframe. Here's my most recent on-line tracking.

I've also been able to rectify the few lost or denied rebates, by following two basic rules. 1. always keep copious documentation (whether it be hard or soft copies) 2. when calling/writing the rebate center make mention of possibly contacting these agencies: BBB, FTC, and State Attorney General's Office. This has always worked.

Fudzilla is exactly that, FUD.
Newegg reviews should be taken as a Grain of Salt; and as YB says; reviews are supposed to be about the product not the rebates.
The rebates are done by a 3rd party company not Corsair themselves, if there is a problem with a rebate Corsair cannot be held responsible imo.

Anyway, dropping from major retailers might just be to them not selling enough of their product of perhaps changes were made and they are moving the product to a different retailer/etailer.

To my eye, the entire OP looks like nothing but FUD. I just don't know if there's an ulterior motive, e.g. the OP works for a competitor of Corsair or is a disgruntled former customer, or if the OP has nothing to gain from this and is just spouting fud for personal reasons.

To me personally, the thought of Corsair having problems in this business is like the idea of Coke or McDonald's failing to continue to do business in their respective industries. Does not compute. If corsair were to be in dire straits there are dozens of smaller fish that would have long since been in trouble too.

I've had no problems with Corsair or associated rebates over the last year or two and i've bought at least 12GB of memory and received each and every rebate filed. Maybe i've just been lucky, but i'll keep buying their products.

I've always had great luck with Corsair's products. Along with Antec, Logitech, and EVGA, they're on my short list of trusted manufacturers.

I still have my original NF4 SLI-D system with 1gb of Corsair XMS 3200 running to this day having been abused and overclocked and it's still sailing. I have no problems with their products and I'm sure their business is doing fine (we would have heard of it had it been otherwise).

I'm still waiting for a corsair rebate. I recieved one earlier, a few months ago, but this one is taking a while. I have to dig out my paperwork for it, I put them away somewhere and haven't found them lately.

Let me know if your rebate does not come through. We'll handle it.

Rebates should just be banned. They are all based on a computation that over 60+% of people won't send them in. Why the heck is every stick of RAM on Newegg offered with a rebate? Then when you sort by price they sort including the rebate. That is pure BS. If you want to sell me something just tell me what I owe to have it shipped. I am not factoring in some money that I will apparently get in the mail 4-777987 weeks later.

Yes, I have gotten many rebates back, but I don't have the time to deal with $10-15 rebates anymore. Just offer me $5 off and call it a day. It's all a big scam.

What a real pain in the ass over $10-15. I realize you have to do it to keep those clowns honest, but seriously this practice of offering back $10-15 8 weeks later to buy something now is just a crap practice.

I am making sure not to buy any rebate marked product on Newegg now. I don't want to encourage this stupid method of pricing things.

I mostly agree. Rebates were started because it allowed companies to 'discount' prices now and pay for it the next quarter. I don't buy things based on rebates though. I think that stores like Tiger Direct that list the after rebate price, then put a little * saying with rebate need to be kicked to the curb.
