Hello,

I am putting together a new PC tonight. I really want to get a 2nd PC playing wow so my girlfriend and I can play at the same time.

What is the cheapest way of going about this? Can I use my current CDs to install wow on the 2nd pc and just create a new account? Or do I need to buy another copy of WoW, buy the BC, setup a new account, and pay for the character transfer? Please advise. Thanks!

Whats the total rundown of this cost?

1) Install WoW on the GF's PC.
2) Get a free trial from www.worldofwarcraft.com
3) Upgrade free trial to full account
4) Buy Burning Crusade (retail or online... same price)
5) Install Burning Crusade expansion

EDIT:

As in total rundown of cost, the free trial is free to start. But to upgrade, you have to start paying monthly (I don't know if you get 10 days free still anyway). Even with the fact that WoW is $20 in stores, this isn't cheaper than the trial upgrade method. Burning Crusade is $40. If she has a character on your account that she wishes to transfer to her new one, this will cost $25. Note that the account must have the same billing address and I think name to do this. You can check on the rules for account transfers before setting the account information. You must also enter the secret phrase for the account being transfered to.

Rundown:
$15 - Monthly subscription
$40 - BC
$25 - Character Transfer
------
$80

Where's the $25 character transfer coming into play? Do you need to transfer off of a trial account? I'm looking at it and seeing $20-25 for WoW, $40 for the Burning Crusade expansion (optional - if you don't play much it could take you months to hit level 60, and the expansion is for level 60-70) and $15/mo for the subscription.

The $25 for the character transfer sounds like his girlfriend already has a character that she plays on his account, so rather than starting all over again, she can transfer that character off his account and onto her new account.

Just remember if you are transfering from one account to another the LAST NAME must MATCH.

I got that from this:

I took this as his girlfriend had a character on his account. If not and she wants to start anew, you can forgo the $25.

Too bad its against the TOC to sell accounts, I have a 60 shaman and I no longer play. My wife has some 40's chars on her account, and she also no longer plays. Such a waste. Both with the expansion.

I don't think they really enforce this, past asking ebay not to allow account listings. My friend quit over a year ago, and a couple times I bought a month worth of his account, no problems. He was a 60 rogue, which came in handy for the lycaeum in BRD (warr friend made me to at least 5 billion emp runs for that stupid trinket which he later sold at level 65 :|) and for soloing that part of the 20FR libram enchant in BRD, as well as horde <-> alliance item/money transfers and running my alts through instances.

Couldn't he give her a referral key and then get a free month after she starts paying?

FYI, back in December i got a 14 day trial cd. When i wanted to upgrade to full, i couldn't find any way online to do it, and had to go buy a retail copy.

Dunno if it's changed since then, but that was my experience.

Wanted to post what happened in the procedure.

Sent the trial (thanks Jeff7181) for a free 15-day trial. Then it costs $19.99 as a one-time upgrade fee to the full version. That account then gets the 1st month free (15.99 off). For the referal my 1st account gets a month free as well (15.99 off). It then costs $40 for the BC and $25 for the transfer so you guys were pretty close on this one.

$19.99
$40.00
$25.00
-$15.99
---------
$69

(which gives the 2nd account a month of playtime)
