Cost to design a website?

My boss is looking at getting a website put together, hosted, etc. for himself (an independent attorney). It will be a fairly basic website (who he is, what he does, contact info). Will not need to be changed a whole lot once it is put together. Any idea what type of cost he should be looking at? Any questions I can answer in order to get my question answered?

We've only met with 1 company so far, so don't have a whole lot to go on.

The hosting should be pretty cheap, you can find that info from going to any of the established hosting companies. For a simple website, anyone familiar with HTML, CSS and JAVA should be able to get a template for under $100 and create the site. I have no idea what people charge but I can't imagine it would be much more than $500.

Sent you a PM with some details but yeah...500-700 range plus hosting.

Make sure your clear with the provider on technical support vs content support and who does what and make sure it's on a server that will perform well (load fast, reliable etc).

Figure out what (if any) "special" features he might want like a mailing list sign-up or blog (blog could be a free linked Wordpress account).

Simple HTML pages should be cheap, any art design like logos could be the expensive part.

For reliable hosting from a good company, I'd recommend Pair.com at $20/month. You might find garage hosting at $20/year but the uncertainty is not worth saving $100 a year.
