cpu dead?

ok my computer will boot up normally, all bios settings are at defaults, and an option comes up that asks how you want to boot windows (safe mode, last good settings, normally) and no matter what i press it always goes to a blue error screen that tells me to restart and disable any antivirus and some other stuff. this has happened ever since i overclocked a little. but even after i reset everything by moving the cmos jumper on the motherboard, it still does the same thing. could my cpu be dead? i dont know what to do. anyone know?

msi k8t neo
1 gig ocz performanc series PC3500
x800pro

how can someone with such a killer rig be stupid? obvoulsy if it's turning on, your CPU isn't dead. Have you tried safe mode / last known good configuration? if that doesn't work, boot off the XP cd and repair your install.

ive already tried that. It shows the same error message when you press r for the recovery.

Try a Repair install instead of Recovery.

Am not gonna say nothing about the (dead cup) man
anyway windows can do that when you install new hardware or install a service pack hapend to me 2 times
how to fix hell i dont know man if you cant get to safe mode reinstall win i guess

im not if its windows because ive tried several hard drives wiht the same results...

I would take the CMOS battery out while the system unit is unplugged and wait a few minutes, then put the CMOS battery back in and power on the system. This should reset your bios completely, jumpers sometimes don't reset what you need. Also try raising or lowering your Vcore if a complete reset doesn't work (not by much but about .1 volts either way).

Dude if you get a hdd with windows xp on it and hoock it up to youre comp it is not gonna boot
same blue screen.
problem diffrent hardware.

did you try to reformat and reinstall? also if your pci bus is not locked and you oc at all that can kill xp on some 64 bit systems

Try booting with Knoppix (if you can get it from a different computer), and look at your Boot partition to make sure everything is in order.

It's your cpu but I don't think it's dead. Be sure of the voltage, multipliers and bus speed, Enter them manually wherever possible. Maybe underclock it as a test. Make sure the heat sink is on properly.

While you're at it, take a look at the cpu. If it is flipped over on it's back with the legs sticking up then I'm wrong and it is dead.
