CPU Installing help!

i need to know if i installed my apu right

yes, that's correct... to make sure, unlatch and pull the CPU back out, make sure the triangle on the CPU matches the triangle on the CPU socket.

LOL, AMD's will usually only seat one way. Not sure a person could install it wrong.

Isn't it same for Intel too? there are two small notch on both sides of the CPU, it wont fit in the socket unless the notches are aligned...

Yep, very true. I have however seen an Intel socket trashed from a client attempting to install a processor side ways.

Trust me - it can be done. I've seen it. In the process, I had an epiphany of sorts. You should never, ever underestimate the ingenuity of an idiot who owns a rubber mallet collection.

One of which he used to insert his CPU. He couldn't understand what went wrong, because (being rubber) "it was insulated".

It all worked out in the end, though. I helped his wife buy him a nice Dell. She even put a nice engraved chassis security padlock on it, too.

I usually just look at the arrow (on one of the angles) that is on the processor and match it with the arrow on the socket. This ensures that the CPU is installed correctly.
