I'm new at overclocking, but I've been messing with my Neo2 Platinum and 3000+ 939 for a while now. It will run fine at 2.6 in windows, but it won't run prime95 for very long with mem and HTT way down. Even at 240x9, my temps during prime95 are about 60C. It ran prime95 fine at 245x9 (stock cpu voltage, reading 1.37 in sandra) with no errors, but it was getting up to 70C from low 30's at idle!!! I'm using retail HSF w/ arctic silver 5. I'm looking at my temps in sandra and mbm5, and they are about the same in both. The temp in the bios never goes above low 40's so I figure just ignore this? Right now my board is sitting outside of my case in open air on a cardboard box.
These temps sound high from what I've read. Are they? Do I just have a crappy 3000+, or should I get a bigger HSF and go for more? Will my as5 take a while to set up and bring my temps down after a few days? What should I do?
