You are telling me that I am stealing, when in fact the monitor I ordered has not even arrived yet. It is scheduled to be here the 6th, but things from newegg usually come a day early. And even if it does get here, the only reason I would think about doing what I have stated would be after I tried every other method of correcting the stuck pixel. I am assuming that there won't be any problem to begin with, because all the reviews on newegg report no dead pixels, and it is a high end monitor. So please, stop getting so worked up, when there is really only about a 15-20% chance that I would even have to consider doing what I have proposed.

You make a good point, you are not a theif yet, to that I agree. But you have intent to steal. You have intent of fruad on your mind... That alone, can put people behind bars. Of course, it would have to be more extreme than this. But as far as everyone is concerned here, you are a fraud!

Thanks a lot, you saved me the trouble of doing it. It's not like I cant replace it if it has 1 or 2 dead pixels, I would just have to pay a 15% restocking fee. I just don't understand people like you. If you think that what I was asking is wrong, thats just fine. You don't have to do it. But PMing it to "NeweggSupport"? Do you call the cops if you hear that somebody owns or has smoked marijuana? (which I don't do)

Is there something wrong with reporting illegal activities?

Also, the difference between your example and reporting your post to newegg is that what you plan on doing would increase newegg's cost, and in turn increase costs for us(people who shop at newegg). You are HURTING newegg and/or people who shop at newegg. Marijuana usage would only hurt the user. If the guy was using marijuana, and as a result hurting others, then of course I'd call the cops. Even if he/she kept it to him/herself, we still have an obligation legally to report illegal activities. However that has little to do with the case on hand.

I concur with OpenWheel...
Buy it at Costco, then you can apply your own ethical standards for return.

Wow, after all this and still being willing to help? This is why I always try to buy from them. I will let you know if I have any problems, but I don't expect any

The macroeconomics of the situation are probably considerably more complex than you can really get into in a forum like this.

I'm not saying "Buy stuff from Dell, hit it with a hammer, and tell them it arrived that way!", or "Buy stuff from Dell and then just keep exchanging it to drive up their costs because you can!". I'm saying "If you want a 0-dead-pixel policy, buy from a store or seller that will offer you one, or that offers a no-questions-asked satisfaction guarantee and will exchange the item until you're happy."

Dell knowingly offers such a guarantee -- does taking advantage of it drive up their costs? Sure. But they are apparently willing to take that extra cost on, and I am sure they have already factored the extra returns into their bottom line.

I do not believe that really, I bought a brand new LCD viewsonic VA 712B a few months back and it had a total of 6 dead pixels, I talked to newegg and they would not touch it and gave me viewsonic's tech support. Well after reading viewsonic's site it is 7-8 pixels. I already got three stuck pixels working by using the psp fix.

Am I mad? Yes especially after I put in a review and stated I had these dead pixels and after a month after sending the review I get a email stating that my review was not in line with newegg's policy. Granted I took the risk and after reading 50+ reviews with no single dead pixel which can be very biased especially if you kick off the reviews that state another result.

But will I buy another monitor through a online vendor? Probably not unless they are Dell and have the no dead pixel policy.

Probably because "Screw you that's our policy!" doesn't seem to get repeat customers for some reason. Not sure why...?

I'm in sympathy with the poster, although I wouldn't have posted the question.

And I guarantee you that people who don't know what they are doing, and do RMA after RMA, are far more costly to consumers than someone going that extra mile to get a monitor (which they probably paid hundreds of dollars for) that isn't imperfect when it comes out of the box.

For instance, go to newegg and read all the reviews wherein people say 'this sucks-- I had to send it back..blah blah' and you just know that 99/100 times it's a BKAC problem; and every time you read one of those, imagine the price you have to pay for said item increasing.
