well I've got a checking account and I was issued a Visa "check" card that works like a regular credit card.

I'd rather not fiddle with credit cards and risk the chance of high interest fees for penalties.
I'm the kind of person who'd charge it, then slack off and forget to pay for it until the last minute.

I like being able to use the money I have in my checking account.
If I can't afford it, then I don't need it right away.

when you learn some financial responsibility get a good reward card. Citibank will be giving me close to $300 this year for the privilege of my business.

Course you have a ton of liability too by using your check card online. I do not recommend that you do that at all. A check card does not provide the same type of fraud protection as a Credit Card.

Too bad MBNA = teh suck.

No, how, in what way?
Never had a problem yet.
Their card being accepted is fine. It's when you go to pay your bill that presents a problem - moreso than other card's online management systems. For one, they change the due date on you every month... sometimes up to 5 days. Then when you try to pay online, the day you can schedule it is on the ACTUAL due date but in fine print of course it says it takes up to 3 business days to process from the date you schedule it for. Everyone should know about the 3 days, but still, they shouldn't default you to that specific date - others leave it blank for you to choose. Underhanded.

Things like that are just annoying. I have zero such problems with Discover, Amex, Verizon, or my utility bills.

Never had that issue. Just pay attention to your due date and schedule the payment.
