which credit card is the best to go for if you are going to be shopping online alot?

this is my first credit card, so i have no knowledge about these things at all, i'd appreciate some help in deciding

from what i know, you can use Visa and Mastercard on websites, but i'm not sure if there are other more popular ones available

amex, visa, mc, should all be good. Just choose one to suit your needs (1% cashback, miles, online statements, etc....)

From what I know, the differences between Visa and MC are so minute that it really doesn't make a difference. Both will cover fraud if your CC# is taken or something similar.

Their card being accepted is fine. It's when you go to pay your bill that presents a problem - moreso than other card's online management systems. For one, they change the due date on you every month... sometimes up to 5 days. Then when you try to pay online, the day you can schedule it is on the ACTUAL due date but in fine print of course it says it takes up to 3 business days to process from the date you schedule it for. Everyone should know about the 3 days, but still, they shouldn't default you to that specific date - others leave it blank for you to choose. Underhanded.

Things like that are just annoying. I have zero such problems with Discover, Amex, Verizon, or my utility bills.

I've always preferred American Express for online payments.

My dad has told me some online companies won't accept it because they charge a higher rate so they make less profit. Whatever the case is, their customer service has been excellent and if you ever have an online problem, it's likely they will handle it the best.

Yes, that law only applies for credit cards. But banks give out credit cards, too.
