Croutching Tiger hidden CRAP....

I must say that this movie just plain sucks! I had to turn it off after only 10 minutes... couldn't stand it. I've only ever done that with one other movie in the last few years, LIFE (Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawerence). Maybe I'm just not a fighting movie fan or can't stand dubbing...

Am I missing something?

Are you kidding? That movie was cool, but it started really lame.....it got good when the first fight scene broke out.

It goes back and forth between wanting to be a realistic historical account and a fairy tale.

There are parts where people get tired, make mistakes, and lose fights for the simplest of reasons.

There are other parts where people jump off of the surface of a lake (as if it's land), fly into the clouds, and do other mystical crap.

It's a very inconsistent movie.

I don't mind dubbing, but the flying through town crap on strings was pretty weak. same happened for me, tho I thin that was 20 minutes or something, once strings enter in the race it's over for me, cept for matrix, but by storyline they were supposed to be able to pull that stuff off as it was a program.

That movie rocked. its by far the best fighting movie i've ever seen. other good movies are: Fist of Legend (original, not the new dvd where they slowed down the fights), Children of Shao Lin (Jet Li when he was around 10), and Story of Ricki. OH YEA

That was one of the crappiest movies I've come across in a long time. It makes battlefield Earth look good by comparison. I turned the thing off after about an hour and a half. Yech. :disgust:

I liked it, I thought that it was good. Although I do agree on one thing. I would of rather of had it, subtitled, than dubbed.

Same thing goes for a lot of Japanese things, Ramna 1/2 sucked dubbed into english.

I didn't like it when I saw it in the theatre, because I don't like subtitles very much. On the hand I find dubbing hilarious because the actors mouths keep moving after their line is over I bought the DVD to laugh at the dubbing but to my chagrin it was very well done and you could hardly tell it wasn't done in English to begin with. In fact my mom asked if they did a remake in English it was that good. I enjoyed it at home a lot more because of no subtitles, but I still didn't think it was a great movie. Both my mom and my dad fell asleep halfway through and my dad likes Kung Fu movies.

Yeah, I feel the same way. Overall the movie was crap.

There is another one that had some weak $h!t in it,

That scene where the Challenger takes the rice-mobile to school at the light then then in a few seconds they are neck and neck, Um thats fuggin BS, if that Rice has more HP then it would not catch up to the car that took off ahead of it, the only way to catch up is if your MPH is higher, and with that your gonna pass him up, not pull up and start going neck and neck.

Good movies are VERY hard to come buy now, all the idea's have really been taken for the most part, everything else is a remake. Old car movies are the bomb, Steve McQueen was when car movies were car movies

I agree, and I watched the whole thing. It was chop suey meets The Matrix. If I want to read, I'll grab a book, and for a GOOD chop suey movie, I'll take Jackie Chan over a lame Matrix ripoff any day.

Not to turn the thread around, but the Supra was turbo'd, with VERY large turbos. It takes a little bit for them to spool up and "kick in".

Not saying that the drag was anything close to accurate, but I have seen some turbo'd cars have what appeared to be a slow launch only to rocket past their challengers once the turbo's spooled up to full boost.

CTHD was the most overrated, overawarded movie of the year. People think that because it wasn't from Hollywood and it was better than the average POS movie, than it deserves heaps of praise. People also consider themselves movie critics and try and convey that anybody that does not regard this movie as one of the best films ever made are idiots. They believe that if you didn't like it then you didn't understand it or you aren't cultured enough to like anything with any substance. What a load of crap! You can have your cheesy wire-fu masterpieces, just don't preach how great it is to me!

By the way - I did watch the entire thing, and yes, I hated it. Elita1 hated it also.


But I should qualify my views by noting I hated Saving Private Ryan too. Its odd because I love almost all movies...


Maybe something about marketing. SPR was hyped as super-realistic. Yes the scenes were recreated that way, but the plot - UGH. Hackneyed crap.

CTHD - hyped as a "thinking man's kung fu movie" - seemed more like "boring Kung fu movie that makes no sense, but if you don't act like it did people will call you stupid.".
