Local TV news tonight reported TS has two prior *convictions*.

1 for crowd encouraged to jump security barrier and 1 for incitement!

How can this happen?

The president of the Houston Professional Fire Fighter Association said Thursday the district fire chief whose station was closest to NRG Park stopped by the Astroworld venue the morning of November 5 but was denied access twice.

According to Patrick "Marty" Lancton, the district fire chief of Station 21 stopped by to walk through the venue to get a lay of the land ahead of Friday night's concert, something he said is "normal."

"As with any big, large-scale event he took a ride over and said 'hey, let's check everything out,'" Lancton said. "In the city of Houston, a district fire chief is usually over three or four stations. When a response is required in his area, he is the first to respond. He would be the one taking command if something happened and determine what resources are needed."

According to Lancton, the district fire chief was denied access first by security. He requested to speak with the head of security who also denied the district chief access. Lancton said the district fire chief was given a map of the venue instead.

How can it be legal to do this?

Crowds can and do kill.

I remember being at rock shows--and hardly the really hardcore ones, we are talking relatively tame hard/classic rock--back in the 80s where everyone sort of crowded up in front of the stage, many rows deep. A few times I was picked up and moved when people got a bit excited. That is not a good feeling to know that this big crowd-beast has the power to do that at will, and you have no say in the matter. I'm a big guy and it doesn't matter, I might as well have been a child. Think Jon Snow in the Battle of the Bastards if you have watched that far in Game of Thrones!

Sounds like a dangerous combo of poor event planning, selfishness and celebrity worship. Good on the performer for repeatedly stopping the show and trying to help people. May the fuck be on all of those who pushed ahead despite the screams just so they could see the stage better.

It's remarkable how dangerous large groups of people can be to themselves, makes me think to what just happened in Israel, where those pilgrims had a stampede and like 40 people were crushed to death. Such a senseless waste.
Totally agree with you..where's the accountability of those who RUSHED to the front of the concert? Ironically, major news media outlets have had bearly a peep on this. And for the record, Travis Scott should've looked a little more closer as to what his security team was doing before and after this incident. He shouldn't have the blame squarely on his shoulders still imo.

For the record, Scott actively encourages crowd crushes at his concerts, and continued to play and encourage same for 37 minutes after serious injuries were reported to the event organizers. So yes, the blame for this will fall largely on his shoulders. He'll likely avoid any criminal prosecution, but the civil penalties for his recklessness will be in the tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars.

Ughh.. checking the latest, it looks like Scott and LiveNation are in full corporate propaganda damage control mode. Probably why this poster came out of lurking.

For a moment there I was a real somebody, a part of a big happening, my need to belong to something fulfilled. The next minute I died in a stampede, trampled to death by people with the same neediness as me. If only I had found real meaning before this event.

The answer is fishing Moonie. If you're still in the bay area go and do more fishing. Inland trout, bass, crappie, white bass, striped bass. You can find peace and fulfillment in a good fishing trip with family.

Ok..... I'm really confused.
I've seen the videos and most of the crowd appeared to be hispanic.
Since when did hispanics take to a black rapper? Especially, Travis Scott? W H A T am I missing here?

Is there a reason why you're so unnecessarily obsessed with racial identity? Lots of Hispanics like rap music. Lots of white people and Asians do too.
So that there were Hispanics at a rap concert in Texas is hardly anything unusual.

You sound like the oldest guy in the room of old guys shaking their fists at whipper snappers.

Rap music barely has a racial identity, it's more about where your from (urban / rural) than anything.

Consider yourself learned.

Rap came straight from the Ghetto and gangbangers, (criminal level ganbangers). It's trash and should be eliminated from the world.

Apparently the event company has a history of shoddy work and cutting corners. Hopefully this was their last.

It's amazing how many old codgers are seemingly unaware of the fact that rap starting outselling rock way back in the 90s.

Clearly Travis Scott is responsible for gathering a crowed where people did dumb stuff and someone got killed.

Travis didn't ask for destruction
Travis didn't call for violence

Yet Travis killed 8 people. Does any of this sound familiar?
yet travis scott has history of telling concert goers to ignore security?

Scott faced three misdemeanor charges of inciting a riot, disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a minor after he invited fans to overpower security and rush the stage.

Scott has twice faced criminal charges related to inciting crowds into over-heated fervors. Before the incident in Arkansas, the rapper pleaded guilty in 2015 to charges of reckless conduct, after cajoling fans at Lollapalooza to climb over barricades and onto the stage with him during his show at the Chicago festival.
“Everyone in a green shirt get the f— back,” Scott said, referencing the festival’s security staff. “Middle finger up to security right now.” He then led the crowd in a chant of “We want rage.” (Scott often refers to his fans as “ragers.”)

That is a nice story. I think it has many variations. One might be this:

“Only he will deserve the name of “man” and can count upon anything prepared for them from above, who has already acquired corresponding data for being able to preserve intact both the wolf and the sheep entrusted to his care.”
― G.I. Gurdjieff, Meetings With Remarkable Men

Were I to tell my own version it would go something like this:

Once I was plagued by an evil and a good wolf endlessly at war within me. I sought to prove the good wolf the better and failed. And thus they died of starvation. Now there is only one wolf and it has no name.

I just came back from fishing. I sat in my back yard, sun setting behind the trees, mid November but a warm gentle breeze. I plucked a pole from a Chinese Elm tree leaving a few leaves at the tip, sat down in a garden chair and table and played with the feral cat that lives with me. Slowly and slowly she has gotten closer and closer to me. She lives in my yard because I feed her and she has learned not to run when I come out.

I also watched the planes fly overhead and imagined myself a condor soaring over the Andes. The sky is beautiful and that beautiful kitty is at the back door now waiting to be fed. Thank you!
