I just called Crucial to ask for a credit of the price difference (I ordered 2 of the 265Mb PC133 CAS2 on 1/23 for $135.99 each). The CSR first said they don't do this because of market fluctuation, yada yada. I asked her if I could return the package, and she went away for 20 secs and came back to offer me a $12 credit. I asked her again if I could return the package for a full refund w/o restocking fee (she said I'll have to pay shipping on the way back, but I told her I could refuse delivery since I haven't received it yet), and she went away for another 20 secs and came back to offer me a $20 credit. I was beginning to feel like buying a new car . Anyway, I got tired of the cat and mouse game, told her that I am going to get my money back one way or another, and asked to talk to a supervisor. She went away again, but this came back and finally gave me the full credit. I'd be sure to check my CC statement in the next few days. She said she had to fill out some paperwork, so perhaps that was the reason for her reluctance in the first place.

If you have just ordered yours before the pricebreak, call them up, can't hurt to try, but please be courteous to the CSR .

I just called Crucial. They have a 30-Day Money Back No Questions Asked Guarantee.

I bought RAM on Saturday for $73.09. Today it is $61.19. Their customer service told me I need to order another stick for the new price and RMA the old one for a credit card credit.

Hope this helps. Unfortunately, there is no "price guarantee" or adjustments. I have to eat the costs of shiping it back - but $10 is ten dollars.

EDIT: I'll try calling again and see what happens.

I can't BELIEVE this. I'm getting 2 x 256 meg of Crucial CAS 2 PC133 memory for $224.38, delivered!!!! The prices on the 256meg sticks especially have REALLY come down. Now they are just about 2x the 128. But you gotta specify board/computer model to get the good prices.

That's 512meg of the very best SDRAM memory man has made on this earth. I cannot believe this!!!

How sweat it is.

I suspect Crucial/Micron have made some mistake in this. I'd JUMP on this if I were you guys.

Hell, my question is this. Is there any utility in going for 768meg of Ram, in a Win2k system (not used as a server). These 256 meg sticks are so cheap now that that is a temptation.

I'm building a KT133A 1.2ghz TBird system right now (overclocked from 900 blue core, probably).

The comment has to do with failure that you posted, not returns. You have 30 days to return the product with no penality.

Ok, my second call to Crucial got me to Customer Service - where I was very nice. Terra was very nice also and after she talked to her Supervisor I got a $15.30 credit on my credit card.

However, she did say this was noted in my Crucial Permanent Record and would be the last time they would make an adjustment - next time I would have to RMA using their 30 day guarantee.

$58.14 (plus tax) for 128 MB CAS 2 RAM!!!! (An exact match to my other stick I bought last year for about $135.)

Somebody please answer!!

How much RAM is just rediculous in a non-sever 1.2 ghz plus Athlon system, running W2k most of the time. (Win98se sometimes for games.)

I'm getting 512meg for sure. The question is, should I fill out my third slot with another 128 or 256meg stick? Would it make any difference at all, for someone who keeps mad numbers of windows open.

Well, I also plan on doing Adobe Photoshop editing and maybe Premier video editing soon. I know that 512meg is good for those things and is used. I don't know if any more would be any use.

Any thoughts out there?

Doug, the question is how much money do you have? I mean in day to day use the difference isn't that much probably 5% between 512MB and 700+. Its really up to you. I got 512 MB RAM for 135.99 a peice, but just got off the phone with them and they lowered it to 118.99 a piece so I am set...I am itching to buy more, but I know for what I tend to do that would be overkill. Hell I might buy some now and wait for prices to go back up and sell it on Egay...

I purchased 256MB & 128MB of PC133 CAS2 yesterday. I called up today and a very nice woman credited my cc for the price difference which was over $40. Just wanted to say that I successfully called in and pricematched themself

Have a good one and goodluck,
Eddie

if some of you are having trouble getting the low prices that you
are seeing it might be necessary to delete the crucial website
cookie...

also it is not necessary to enter a company name, just click go...
also the 15% is off of regular prices...so it is 10% off 'sale' prices

Bling Bling - For the small difference in price, you will want the 7.5. That is the faster, but it is not even close to be a noticable difference. However it is possible, not knowing your specific application, that the 7.5 will run when the 8 will not at very high buss speeds.

EDIT:

Sesopedalian:

I don't have an o/c-ed processor. But i do have a classic athlon 550 o/c-ed to 750 through soldering and what not. The only reason i don't have it in right now is because it's overheating (case/cooling sucks); the RAM has no affect on it. But i'm gonna make upgrades on the necessary stuff and put the 750 back in.....or i might get a T-Bird 700/750 later on and o/c that (chances are very very low).

Well I just talked to Tara, and she was no help whatsoever. Didn't even suggest that I could return the module and re-order. I had to propose that scenario to her. I'm not very good at politely asking to go over someone's head, so I just dropped it. Oh well.

Nope, they don't like to make adjustments. The only way I got it (besides talking extra nice) was to say "a friend" (you're all my friends ) got the same adjustment I am asking for by talking to a supervisor. "Could you PLEASE make an exception for a loyal and satisfied customer?"

You know, "I know it's against your policy (blah, bla, blah, bla . . nice company . . . great RAM . . . why waste time and money with a RMA, etc., etc., etc.)

3-5 minutes of effort vs. RMA and re-order . . .

EDIT: Don't worry, if you want to return it THE 30 DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE applies. Remind them of that.

the phrase is " that's unacceptable, may i speak to your supervisor?"

or say " I understand that it is a commodity, but i am not satisfied.
can you give me an RMA number (you have a 30 day satisfaction guarranty.)
......you know it is unfortunate that i have to do this, it would be easier
if you would just credit the difference....why don't you check with your
supervisor....thank you...'

worked for me and i got the price difference adjusted....
