My ebates banner disappears when I go to the secure checkout.
I did everything Rossman said in an earlier thread:

Earlier thread

"Here's the original thread although the title refers to laptop SODIMM memory.

Here's how to get the 15% off WebPromo, 5% eBates and free shipping:
1) First enter through the WebPromo URL and click the GO button, you do not need a coupon code.
2) Find your RAM and add it to your cart.
3) Open a new web browser window and go here leaving the first browser window open.
4) You should now see the eBates banner at the top with the crucial.com web site beneath it.
5) Click Shopping Cart, your RAM and 15% off savings should be there waiting for you.
6) Proceed to check out, blah blah blah."

Does somebody else have the same problem??

Dr. Laura handles dilemas , but massive Intel price cuts Monday should cut 1-2 weeks from your time frame.

Guyguy --

I'm in exactly the same timing situation. I order CPU and mobo next week or the one after. Intel lowers prices big this weekend, which is bound to have some effect on AMD pricing. If not immediately, then in a week or so.

I've put together most of the rest of my high end system by jumping on super deals as they came along, but holding off on any of the stuff that was only pricewatch priced -- since it can go down with time, or might become the subject of a hot deal. As stuff has.

But I'm getting this crucial memory today. I'm just still torturing myself on whether to get 512 or 640 megs total.

Its a super deal. And unlike processors, Ram prices can and do go UP as well as down sometimes. Sometimes it goes up a lot. I think there is a good chance that demand for SDRam goes up, and supply goes down, when DDR mobos really start arriving. That is because there isn't going to be that much of a performance gain over the KT133A mobos, the mobos are going to be expensive, and the 2100 DDR memory is also going to be significantly more than PC133. Also the 760 mobos may have problems. Certainly AMD has been having a hard time getting mobos based on it going out the door. Its way late. Because of problems.

So all in all, people who have held off on buying more SDRAM against the possibility of converting to DDR will decide not to convert, and buy. Meanwhile the memory makers will devote part of the best production lines now making Cas2 PC133 memory to making PC266/2100 DDR memory. So the supply and demand equation will shift. Perhaps by a lot for a while. SDRAM might very well go back up in price.

Also, judging by this tread, crucial is probably getting flooded with orders. They may just decide to up the price a bit next week, or take off part of their 15% discount, to balance demand with supply. RAM memory is sold like that.

So no, I wouldn't hold off. If you've decided against DDR, I'd buy your SDRAM from Crucial NOW.

Now, should I get 640meg, or 512??? (got to decide now despite free shipping, since my 15% off goes to 10% off after my first buy from Crucial.)

Somebody else has the same problem with ebates. I really need to know now, because I don't want the "sorry, were out of stock" email (a lot of lurking people here )

OK, called Crucial back and got $27.80 credited thanks to Kristin, the helpful CSR. She did mention the one-time only price adjustment policy, though. Next time I'll just use my ClickCiti credit card's price guarantee feature to get the difference back (which, by the way, is another option to look into for those of you who strike out with the Crucial CSR's).

Hmmm... let me check that math...

$135.99
-$112.19
----------
$ 23.80

Hmmm... I think she credited me too much. CT tax is 6%, and 6% of $23.80 is only like a buck-fifty, so I'm not sure what she did!

that is the one you are looking for. Plus I entered the normal way just a few minutes ago and they had their prices 15% off w/out going any certain route.

Martijnos:
I bought 256 mb last night by using the 15% promo site and getting to the crucial page with my ram, with the 112 price. I did not add the ram yet. I then went through eBates to the crucial web site and again found the page with my mobo and the 256 mb I wanted. The price should reflect the 112 price tag. Now, I added the memory and went through the payment process. The rebate should be added to eBates, although eBates does say that the purchases might not show up in your account for up to 30 days. Hope it helps.

Am I reading this wrong?

I looked up memory for a Sosyo 6BA+100 and the CL-3 is less then CL-2. I thought 2 was better...

Madman -

They do have the Abit KT7A board listed. It's based on the same Via 133 fsb chipset. Use that.

Re: using the ebates service.

I'm signed up for ebates. I tried opening a new window and going to ebates, after filling my shopping cart with the 15% deal. When I go to stores and then Crucial, it comes up alright. And when I go to my shopping cart, its all there, with the 15%. The trouble is, I no longer see any ebates logo at the top of the screen, and the URL is pure crucial, without any ebates.

Is ebates going to pick this up? Will I get my 5% from them?

Any advice from an old ebates hand?

Thanks esquared, the ebates banner still disappears when I go the secure checkout, but I think there is no other option than to order and take my chance. 5% is not that much, but hey everything helps....

Martijnos and Dougjnn:
If I remember correctly, my eBates banner also disappeared. I think my banner has disappeared on other purchases but eBates still picked it up.

Thanks guys, I ordered and the ebates banner did disappear. Seems to be no problem:

"What if the ebates.com frame disappears while I am shopping?

For some of our merchants, the ebates.com banner will not always appear while you are shopping through ebates.com. As long as you have entered the affiliated site by clicking through ebates.com, you will receive a rebate for your purchase."

Dougjnn --

That was a mouthful, and some good arguments about crucial, perhaps raising ram prices later because of supply, but I was looking at a Step-thermodynamics setup and their memory was 115 for about a week and a half now. Even if crucial goes up i still think I can get there stuff (yes its generic) but generic PC150 and they pretest it before it comes so I know it'll work with my setup. However if it drops again I'm on it like white on rice.

Well, I just jumped in and got the 256MB PC133 for 117.80 after taxes. BTW, how can they charge sales tax? Do they have a significant presence in every state?

I still like my Kingston 256 PC133 CAS2 for $95 from buy.com a while back.
