$101, why not spend $11 more for Crucial - definitely one of the best top quality memory?
Unless you're buying 1000s to build 1000s computer, that'd save a lot.

Well, 2 of my roommates and I each ordered a 256MB chip. One of them just got his today, popped it in his system and it won't hit above 133/cas2. He tried 135/cas3 and 140/cas3 and was having problems. He had an el-cheapo Accessmicro 128MB chip before and that one hit 140/cas3 with no problems on his system. He only got it this afternoon though, so maybe there's some tweaking involved. I should be getting mine tomorrow and my other roommate should be getting his Wednesday, so hopefully we'll have better results with it.

AU, I doubt that...

Almost every comp made since 1998 (every box 350mhz and up) has used pc100/133 SDRAM and I think the supply of it available for sale will only go up as people upgrade and that will keep the prices going down...

ok i just got my 256 megs of crucial cas2 pc133 RAM. the page i bought it from http://www.crucial.com/store/PartSpecs.asp?imodule=CT32M64S4D7E says that the ram is 7.5 ns.

i took a look at the ram and it says: 48LC16M8A2 -7E B

notice the 7E. does that mean 7 ns?

i have another stick of mushkin infineon and it is 7.5 ns and says 75 on the stick.

so did i get lucky and got 7 ns RAM?(not that it really matters cause my kt7 board wont go above 107 FSB)

ingenue007,

If you enable HST+CLK in the bios, then the 107 fsb will make your ram will do 142mhz.

HamtonP -

yeah that is enabled. RAM runs at 143 CAS2. i guess what i meant to say was that i can't test to see if this ram can go higher since the chipset won't allow higher FSBs.

I ordered the same on Sunday and was given no indication that it was backordered. I about crapped when I saw your post. I was hoping to get all my components this week. (I'm building my first system from scratch! Wish me luck.) I called today to see what was going on with my order. They should be shipping today.

Mine is waiting on my door step. I gotta get home before someone else grabs it. I'll see how high it'll clock tonight.

Do it soon. Free 2 day shipping disappears on 2/3. They've been inundated. They just may feel inclined to chop the discount or up the price a bit.

Who knows, but it sure isn't clear it will go lower, or stay this low.

You guys should check the "for sale" threads. There's a guy named JKDude who's selling 128MB sticks of real sweet Mosel Vitelic PC143 RAM. I was gonna go Crucial but this is "guaranteed" goods that you can overclock your brains out with. Haven't heard a bad thing yet about the stuff. Just ordered 512MB worth. Oh, the POWER!

The crucial 256 mb Cas2 dimms are seen as 143 MHz dimms when examined with the program Motherboard Monitor. I also have a 128 mb dimm of Cas2 mosel I bought from Memman and motherboard monitor sees this as 133 Mhz. This crucial deal is much better. Like I posted before, use eBates and the price goes down to 113.89 which is cheaper than 2-128 of this guys mosel at 127 plus 3.90 shipping for 130.90. That's 17.01 cheaper and the dimm is seen as a 143 MHz dimm. Just my two cents.

esquared,
This isn't Memman stuff. I'm not sure what RAM your program tested but everyone that bought JKDude's RAM swears by it. He's got links to test results and buyer feedback that is most complimentary. I dunno, Crucial is definately good but when I saw the specs on this 7ns vs. Crucial's 7.5, I jumped. I guess we'll see, huh?

Now just out of curiosity. I bought a stick of the 256 MB cas 2 pc133. I also got a stick of the infineon from compuwiz1 from the for sales board, the infineon is 256 cas 3, but they reported to run at cas 2 no problem. Anyone knows which one is faster? Can I mix the two together for a kt7a raid? Thanks for your reply...

Ninjazed:
Motherboard Monitor tested the Mosel 6 PCB Cas2 Pc133 from Memman. It's great stuff. The link below is the ratings test. The Mosel is 7 ns and so is this 256 Mb Crucial memory (its not 7.5ns, that's the Cas3 stuff). I was just commenting that for equal amounts of memory the Crucial's a better buy IMO. Both the Mosel and the Crucial perform the same in Sandra's memory benchmark 480/560 MFS for floating point, which is excellent with my Athlon 950. I have hit as high as 496/576 with this memory.

PC133 tests

Update:
I just found an article on Mosel vitelic 143. The article reports it being seen as PC133 but rated at 143. Dunno if its the same as my Mosel Ram. But just the same, Sandra and Motherboard monitor sees is as PC133 and the Crucial is seen as 143 MHz. Here's a link for the review is anyone's interested:
