i finally got it running stable (for at least the past 10 hours since i kicked it off and went to bed) using guiminer scrypt with reaper. One 7870 running at 260kh/s (which feels lower than it should be, but the numbers ive been finding across the net seems like about where it should be).

fired up another miner using my processor to see if my PC can take the load from CPU and GPU all at the same time and letting that run while im here at work today. the extra 22Kh/s wont make a huge difference, but it gives my cores something to do.

if you could send me a pm on a how to. maybe spend a bit of time teaching me to setup I would be grateful. Send a few screen shots to me email etc. I have a lot of gpus hashing it seems like this would make more for me.

i'll send you some info tonight if i have some time to mess around.

just checked my workers and the GPU worker is stopped. may have to do with kicking in the CPU, since that is running. I'll check it out at lunch and see if the logs have any info.

I'd be interested as ewll

I should have already has a new 6870 miner up, but the mobo was DOA

and my main rigs mobo took a dump partially so I have a 7950 sitting

sounds like by the time Im back at full capacity I may be past the window for most GPU mining in bitcoin :/

(still have a 7950 and a 5870 mining)

ugh. looks like i was wrong. Reaper was a slow downhill slide. Worked fine for a while and then started accepting less and less work till the point where it was running and saying it was doing work, when it actually wasnt.

back to the drawing board.

Seems like LTC mining is a net loss for me, only made 1.6 LTC over the last 16 hours, I'd need to make about double that to be competitive with the value of BTC I can mine from the same machine. I may revisit it after BTC difficulty increases further.

Though, I did purchase a few LTC. I had a metric ton of NMC from merged mining that I never had any use for, so I sold them on btc-e and bought LTC.

A bunch of the litecoin pools are getting DDOSed.

Yeah... the recent LTC difficulty changes killed the profitability for me as well.

the new GCN 1.1 seems to be the new bitcoin king

yeah pretty much, very close in mhs/$ on purchase price, and the gap is pretty well made up for in power savings (1.654m/$ for 7790 vs 1.706 for a cheap GHZ, but its 1.36 for a dual fan)

I wonder........I have some hardware still laying around, and am about to replace my HTPC

wonder what the best setup for trips or dual is, in cards at 150 or less, efficiany/heat/noise taken into effect.

that would include the 7790, 6870, 6950 ETC

also by mining LTC at a loss now, while its still easy, is basically taking a small risk. if the value goes up later when they are much harder to mine......and you still have them.....profit!

lets see......450bucks and 450w for 3 7790's, and you can still use a 'cheap' PSU, since good 500-650's are always on sale for 50. ~800mhash
so lets say 500 bucks there.

you need a 80-100 buck psu generally to go dual big cards, like 69xx or 79xx

and its about what 600 for 2 good 7950's. but you get.......900mhash? but you need 600w+ of power.....
so lets say 700 bucks there.

probably an extra 50 on the mobo for a triple xfire setup...

wow according to a bitcoin calculator 3x7790 and 2x7950s are almost indentical in profit margin

Ive bought stuff with mining in mind before, but mostly thats why i stuck with AMD gpus and didnt always sell some older hardware...ive never purchased stuff JUST for mining.....(well actually I preordered a Jalapeno, I was in batch 2, but I cancelled it in early January because there was no sign of batch one yet)

not sure this is the time to do it either

I bought a 7790 for a new computer I am setting up. Yes, bitcoin mining potential was part of the reason I went with that particular card (also I wanted a free copy of bioshock infinite).

huh... time to explore p2pool

I had it working at some point, but I felt like everything was holding together witch duct tape and I was afraid of breaking some part of it every time I rebooted or upgraded anything, so I gave it up. I've just been mining on btcguild since then.

Anybody get a Butterfly ASIC? How long is the wait on them?

Do you remember that hit movie 300?

300 avalons have been delivered .

300 on back order batch 2

600 on back order batch 3 price jacked from 1500 to 7000 usd
_____________________________________________________________________________
0 BFL gear delivered 26000 plus orders, but many canceled maybe 10000 to 13000 orders still active (just a guess)
__________________________________________________________________________

Asicminer sold shares and holds the gear. this is kind of like buying shares in a gold mining company.

Yeah, it's crazy right now. There was a big sell-wall at $80 and $81 but I guess those sellers came to their senses and realized they could get more for their bitcoins.

If this follows the recent patterns I'd expect the price to surge a bit and then stall at $84 or $88 and then fall back down a few dollars for a day before climbing back up. Somewhat tempted to put in a sell order for $84.50 but I bet if I do this will be the one time the value just climbs all the way to $90 and beyond without a dip.

Cool! Just one more question for now - where can I see the "sell-wall"? Somewhere in Mt.Gox's site? I just want to know when to sell it, lol!

The red lines in the lower chart are the offers to sell at higher than current value. When the line is vertical, it represents a huge quantity of bitcoin being offered for sale, and it's sort of a "wall" against further upwards value progress. However, the walls are often "illusionary", once the wall is getting bought into the owner often cancel the sell order and the wall disappears.

The green lines on the other side are bids to buy, for example at $50 there is a huge wall for 30,000 coins that someone has bids to buy. The green walls can be used to judge how stable the current value is- you know that if the price drops to X, there are Y bids to purchase coins for that value, you might assume that the price won't crash below that value, at least not quickly. However, just like the sell walls, these bid walls can be "illusionary", as if the price does start to crash the investor with the bid to buy at $50 or any other value could go in and cancel the buy orders, so you can't completely rely on them. They are a useful indicator, but nothing is ever completely safe.

fricking i swear. reaper and cgminer are going to be the death of me. I cannot get either of them working stable for the life of me.
