It can go both way. I don't really see much hope for Zeitcoin to be honest.

PoS is good because it'll allow people who see value in the coin to hold onto it since the reward will eventually drop to zero and whoever has the most amount of coins get a bigger interest.

Bad because people don't really know much about it yet and its kind of new.

Zeitcoin will be a pump and dump for me.

ZEIT is an absolute mine and dump imo. It is a MintCoin clone. Imo, the only two PoS only coins that could be worth something are MINT and BC. MINT was the first to go with the idea and really expose it (not PoS, but short PoW period followed by mainly PoS), and BC did it as well, but with zero premine, a much shorter PoW mining time scale (will soon be over), and is 100% PoS.

MINT and BC are the experiments that if successful will be worth something.

ZEIT = mine and dump clone.

So I'm mining at WeMineLTC and have a little over 3 LTC. Yay! Just putting my one 6950 to it when I'm not gaming.

I don't believe I've ever set up a wallet. My 3 LTC is just sitting at WeMineLTC, as far as I know. Do I need to set up a wallet and save it on my PC so it's secure?

Also, I could point my 6950 to SunnyD's KDC. But then how do I get my funds, if I don't have a wallet set up?

Me....I just send my LTC to BTC-E and then try to sell high buy lower and increase my coins. When happy I convert to BTC and send to coinbase, sell and deposit in my bank account. Of course I'm talking small potatoes as currently only bave a little over 10 LTC in my account.

Offline wallet is safest if going for the long haul most likely.

Currently "burning in" my new(er) 290s @ Sunny's KDC pool. I haven't decided whether I should switch all my hash over or not. Le sigh.

PSA - don't install new hardware items while tired and/or drunk!

After working a 12 hour day, then drinking two vodka tonics, I had the brilliant idea to install a few new USB risers. Well, on the Asus motherboard I was using, the PCI slots and the PCI-E slots are both blue (damn you Asus!). You know where this is going...right? Yep, I plugged the riser into a PCI slot, flipped the switch, and nothing happened. The MB appears to be fried. I was drunk enough that I really didn't care much. But god dammit, now I have to install a new motherboard.

Try resetting CMOS + unplug power supply for 30 minutes, then see if it will turn on

You might get lucky

Hmm.. I can solo mine just fine on my Win8 boxes, but when I try to plug the same URL into bamt it refuses tot make it (see: http://ipaddress:port). Is there some extra special sauce required to make BAMT work with the wallet to solo mine? Yes, the IP addresses are listed in the allow in the config.

It's not entirely suggested for obvious reasons, but you CAN:

  • Leave the coins in the pool until you transfer them out to a local wallet
  • Leave the coins in the exchange until you transfer them direct to an exchange
  • Mine and autopay out to an exchange

The obvious negative to any of those is that you have the inherent risk that YOU aren't in control of the coins at any point in time as you would be if they were in your personal wallet. You're trusting someone else to be the custodian with them.

-=--=-

Guys... you amaze me. Between you and HardForums, PMWU has roughly 10% of the net hash for KDC. And the pool statistics show it, we're bang on 10% of the block rate right now, which means that you guys should be getting pretty much exactly what the estimated payouts are showing. Great job!

You need to set rpcthreads sufficient for 1 thread per connecting miner.

Aren't a lot of coins clones though? If you say that it's a clone = pump, then why is it that a lot of coins are still doing relatively well?

Wouldn't PTS more than obviously crash after 11:59 pm gmt?

I'm seeing now that Invictus recommends holding through March 2nd "just in case" they need to take another snapshot. I'm not terribly concerned as I was making a "long term" investment and all my PTS are under my control, meaning I will get Bitshares.

[sorry to mods if I can't mention this stuff here]

Just uninstalled my GPU's and they are sitting in the boxes. Will be sold by Sunday night for sure. Either here or Ebay. Anyone interested in purchasing the following PM me. I also have a cheapo older mobo/cpu/ram/psu/hdd combo I can add to it.

Sapphire 7970: can do 730 kH easy
2x Gigabyte Windforce 7950's: One has modified BIOS (can do mid 650's easy), one doesn't (just got back from RMA, haven't experimented with it)

Wow. My basement is now cold, quiet and a bit depressing now. Somehow, I grew to love the hum of the miners. The heat was also nice in the Winter ..... :-D

any ideas what a 7950 should be hashing for KDC?

I get 660 on my Sapphire Dual-x baby!!!

Anything above 600 is good for a 7950... My 7970 can't crack 700 so I consider 660 above average for a 7950.

Edit: I don't use anything special for my 7950... TC is 24k, Intensity is 19. Clock speeds are 1100/1500

Lol @ Zeit. I've got 5MH/s solo mining and zero blocks found. Difficulty already up to 16 after 297 blocks due to the per block retarget...

Major pools aren't even up yet.

I signed up with Poolers. Dud pool and half an hour of mining gone. Now I'm at Coins4Everyone but no blocks found yet. Difficulty already at 65. Wtf...

Edit: People managed to mine ~400k and sold them for 25 satoshi. WTF?

If you were lucky enough to be part of the first pool that was up, they basically mined most of the first 200+ blocks.

I started solo mining at diff 2 and found nothing. Dedicatedpool came up way late and I only have 11K coins there. I can't recommend Dedicatedpool after their massive failures the past several coin launches.

Also, moving back to wafflepool and Sunny's KDC pool. No sense burning any more time on ZEIT (rhymes with something else...)

Zeitcoin failed.

Some pools got source early and got to launch on time. The wallet they released didn't actually have the source in it originally and it was all broken.

OSX wallet is broken.

Some how, there was already a million Zeit on Cryptorush when the site launched.

-hmmm-

Just going to mine it tonight then dump it to in the afternoon at this rate.
