I have a question

http://btcbuy.info/GiftCards.cshtml

this company was selling amazon gift cards for bitcoins. no issues or problems. well now they don't sell the amazon cards.

someone mentioned fast cash a few posts back.

I think it was Rick James Astley he was thanking the RussianSensation. so what is fast cash and how do I use it? TIA

I goggled and found https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/ is this the site you use?

I've used them several times and gotten payments sent straight to my PayPal without any issues.

Yes, I have used fastcash4bitcoins several times as well and it has gone smoothly. You just have to wait for their paypal funds to be replenished sometimes.

Just remember that there's a moderate fee when using fastcash. As of right now, it appears to be about 4% (11.17 last price per mtgox, fastcash paying 10.69). There is also a 1% fee to deposit to paypal, so it looks like a total of around 5%.

If you send your coins to mtgox then send the cash from there to dwolla, the fees are significantly lower. The mtgox trading fee is 0.6% and the dwolla transfer fee is $0.25.

Is it possible to use mt.gox or dwolla in Canada? I didn't think it was, which is why I used spendbitcoins before and fastcash now.

yeah i checked out the fastcash site the only restriction is 20 dollar minimum. I figure that is not that bad. the other site was letting me buy 10 dollar amazon cards as a minimum. still 20 bucks is okay.
I figure I don't hold the coins I convert as soon as I can.

I am earning about 1 coin a day. using 3x 7950's and 3x 7970's.

I can underclock all the gpus and get 2400mHash at about 800 watts. or I can overclock them to 3500mHash at 1500 watts . Since I pay top dollar for power in the long run underclocking works better. The other day I maxed to 3500mHash and the site I used mined 18 coins. So that was a very good guess. Not looking to do that very much since it is hard to cool down all the gear. Still it was fun to have my highest hash rate on the day bitminter.com set its record for coins minted.

That's not in 1 day I am guessing? If so, you gotta share the site!

yes the site did 18 coin blocks on the 5th of sept. www.bitminter.com

that was their all time high. I earned 18 x .14 = 2.12 coins in a day. My share. with my hash rate I should do about 1 a day.

I found it to be funny since I was going to try a max hash run around 3500 vs 2400 and i picked there best day ever to do the max run. Now today they are at 5 coin blocks and on the 6th they did 10 coin blocks.

In an earlier post he said he's using 3x7950's and 3x7970's!

Which once again goes to prove that you have to have money to make money...

people were spending more on electricity than making with mining bitcoins...t

yes and if the coin price drops to 4 or less I will not get it to work. with normal luck at mining coins at 10 bucks a coin I will make 30 coins in a month that is 300 I will pay 120 in power net plus is 180. Now in the winter I will lower my heating bill 20 to 35 a month. so that is plus 200 to 215.

I spent 2200 to setup. I need a few good months to make it worthwhile.

You must be mining part time. HD7970 OC should get you 1.65 BTC in 1 week at current rate after 5% BTCGuild fees.

@ philipma1957,

Ya I ran Bitminter before. Going to test it out for a couple of days. Realized just now the applications has a minimization "Performance mode". Last time when I tested it for 3 days I never used this feature, not putting it in the best light. Put in 1% fee from 2% I had last time. Going to see what it does in 2-3 days. The beauty of BitMinter is the CPU speed is very minimal unlike GUIMiner (even with -f15 / 20 and so on flags). I am using Client v1.2.0.

That's possible if someone didn't calculate their electricity costs correctly vs. the hashing rate. If someone pays Hawaii level of electricity costs it's totally different than someone paying Toronto Hydro rates.

This calculates takes care of the risk vs. reward by taking electricity costs into account.

One thing I do is pay 1% on the bitcoins and I give more on the namecoins as i have not figured out what to do with them.

if you donate 1% and 1% you get all the perks. it is set at 2% and 2% for each coin.

so I changed it to 1% for bitcoins and 20% for name coins. right now i am letting the name coins pile up since I have not figured out an easy way to do anything worthwhile with them. is there a way to convert them to bitcoins?

i did find this site

https://exchange.bitparking.com/main looks like 500 name coins for 1 bit coin?

Gradually pushing back up after the tumble from $15. I'm thinking the value will continue to rise as the bounty halving approaches, so I'm hesitant to sell off any BTC right now.

Just a question but I've got a server that's on 24/7. Specs are in my sig. For mining, would my hardware be ok to try a little mining if I add a gpu? Would it not be a good idea to try mining on a server?

Your power supply is a bit weak for a high end video card, but there is nothing inherently bad about the idea of mining on a server with those specs. You just need to be aware of power and cooling requirements, a video card mining 24/7 produces a lot more heat overall than one used to game for a few hours a day.

On the other hand, right now might be a bad time to invest in GPU hardware. The first major ASIC devices are supposed to start shipping in a month, and they may well start pushing GPU mining out of the range of being profitable. If you have the video card already, give it a shot, but if you are going to spend $200 on a card you might not make back your money.

I'd def. have to invest in a new gpu. I think the only AMD card I might have laying around is a 5770 that's prob. not any good for this task. Maybe I'll just skip it and wait to see if I can benefit later.

getting 358.9 Mhash/s wonder if i can get higher

Wth is with you spamming the same post in different threads? And asking a zillion bitcoin q's here when you can get faster and more answers at bitcointalk.org. Even a simple google search would have answered most of your questions in seconds.
