Is there proof of that? I thought they won't ship these mini-rigs until October?

Did any of you guys order and receive the new ASICs yet, even the $150 Jalapenos? Right now the network rate fluctuates wildly.

He might have meant the current generation mini-rig, as opposed to the new mini-rig sc.

I ordered a single sc, but shipment isn't supposed to start until October and I don't think I ordered early enough to get into the first shipment anyway.

when you get a single sc from butterfly you are talking 40Gig hash for 1299. Can you let us know if :

a) it gets close to 40 gig hash
b) it works 24/7
c) how many watts does it use.

right now I have a 1.6 gig setup using 3x 7970's in a evga p67 mobo

this cost me about 1600 to make I pull 450 watts. 450 watts cost me about 65 dollars in power. it also saves me about 15 in heating so net 50. last month I did 20 coins for about 200 in amazon cards. So I got about 150 back the first month of bitcoin. take it off the 1600 spent I am out 1450 for the gear.

of course the parts have resale value if bitcoin is ended. I can get 300 each for the 7970 cards. I can get 100 and change for the mobo. I can get 150 for the 2500t. I can get 150 for the 1000 watt platinum seasonic. so that is 1300 back for the 1600 in parts. So if bitcoin ends today I am close to break even. Just one month more at 150 profit I would be even.

The problem with buying the single sc for 1300 is if bitcoin goes bust it is 1300 gone.

Have you been paying attention to the drama in the last day where it's come out that the president/owner of Butterfly Labs was extradited from Italy and sentenced to 26 months in the Federal Pen (reduced to time served) for mail fraud?

He was a lead conspirator and owner of a US$25M lottery ponzi that targeted the elderly.

I'm not sure if BFL itself is a scam, but it makes me glad that I stayed on the fence instead of buying a few SC Singles like I'd planned to. It definitely explains why BFL's business practices have come off as so sleazy.

I am still doing your method sitting on the fence.
Since the higher end hd7970's have good resale. Also if you under clock they don't age much.

It is also nice to run a space heater and get paid to do it.
My den has always been too cold in the winter won't be this year. 450 to 500 watts can warm a room up quite a bit.

Yes from reading about BFL's past practices on the bitcoin forums, they were a bit sketchy...I would be very hesitant to spend over a grand on one of their ASICs...a Jalapeno I wouldn't mind.

yeah I think I could order a Jalapeno once every 6 weeks starting in nov.

maybe get 4 or 5 as a total.

I won't make that decision until NOV.1 maybe wait until Obama vs Romney is decided on NOV. 6 , 2012.

BitInstant is now processing the equivalent volume of 1/5th of the monthly payments of Chile’s internal payment system. In 2013, the Bitcoin economy is expected to be larger than that of a few small nations.

As a GPU miner, I hope the company implodes.

Well a 3 or 4 month delay would be enough for me to fully pay off the gpu rig I built. So even if they stagger around for a few months Say Dec or Jan I will be fully paid off on the gpu rig. I could deal with that.

Fascinating. I hope it's just a bunch of drama, since I have put money into it.

How can the company be a con when they actually make products that people have? What, they went to the trouble of making an FPGA miner just to get people to invest in ASIC so THEN they can con them? It's way easier just to ponzi scheme anonymously.

I third that motion and hope whoever has paid for BFL gear gets their money back.

I want my GPU mining to stay profitable lol.

I'm running BAMT for mining and I pushed my overclocking to hard causing a lockup and reboot. Now I can't get the one cpu on my 5970 to overclock again while the other gpu on the same card and other cards are fine. coldreboot does not help.

Any suggestion how I can reset this? (perhaps the mother monitor disabled OC on the one GPU)

Update: Found the answer, remove a file and your back in business

Seams to be mainly drama. I just received a FPGA single and its working quite well and above spec.
