It is a big jump 3,600,000 to 4,367,876 is about 21 percent.

Coins are holding value around 34 usd.
The next 4 weeks should be very interesting.
The hash rate is still not bad since avalon is not shipping much.

BFL has yet to show a working box.
If the usd value stays high pressure to deliver real asics in bulk will become
very intense.

Right now asicminer is pulling in huge amounts of coin.
Any company that has a working ASCI miner is mining themselves right now and making a mint.

Monthly output for me took a hit with the latest difficulty boost, but I can still make about $90 a month now.

LOL, yeah, BFL is probably doing "QA (Quality Assurance) Testing" right now.. :whiste:

I've been following this thread with some interest for a while. I have been contemplating getting a new VC just for better gaming, however, between the AMD game bundle (2 games for a 79xx and 6 games for a CF 79xx setup), plus the possibility of making some cash on the side with BTC mining makes a CF setup all the more interesting.

However, the advent of these new ASIC miners kinda puts the screws on everyone that built a dedicated mining rig...

Opinions?

Maybe but I do not think so. The network hash rate has never topped 40Th. before the halving the max was 28Th in dec 2012. After the halving it dropped to very low 20's. Now that price is higher and a few asic's have been built the max is 38Th. Right now at 12 noon east coast time the hash rate is 27Th.

http://bitcoincharts.com/

I checked at 12 noon it comes up with 27.5 Th with price at 34 usd and difficulty at 4.36 million.

I would love to see these prices just stay put. I make 20-25 bucks profit a day with these numbers.

How many and what kind of GPU's are you running?

1 powercolor hd7990 = 1000 hash

2 msi hd7950 = 900 hash

8 hd7970 = 4200 hash

IIRC :
1 msi reference

4 xfx 2 fan 925ghz

1 visontek reference

1 powercolor reference

and maybe 1 sapphire 2 fan or a gigabyte 2 fan.

My total is about 6100 hash.

I underclock to keep my hash to watts at 3 hash = 1 watt so I pull 2k-watt an hour.

6000 hash 2000 watts.

That is 48 k watt a day at 16 cents is about 7.68 usd in power. My rates are 8 cent for power plus 8 cent for delivery or 16 cents a k-watt total.

I am now getting about .9 coins a day or .9 x 33 usd = 29.70 usd minus 7.68 is 22.02 usd a day.

Plus my heating bill is lower about 90 a month or 3 a day so 22.02 plus 3 is 25 a day.

Not bad for as long as it lasts. oh today coins are over 34 usd.

thats almost 4 times what i pay per kwh

You really pay $0.04/kWh? Where do you live? Here in Fort Collins, Colorado, we have our own utility that owns it's own coal-fired plant that has a contract with a local coal mine and a direct rail link, and sells it's excess power generation capacity... and we pay $0.08/kWh (gen+deliver base rate). It was my understanding that we had one of the better rates for the US.

yeah I pay like $0.0458 per KWH

Middle of Illinois

My municipality did an aggregation deal, before that it was in the mid 7's at peak, and upper 3's at night...I always mined at night before!!

there is a ton of wind power here, and a few nuke plants fwiw

I'll be in your neighborhood for a wedding in August btw

oooh. I think I pay about a penny per kwH for transport, so more like 3 times as high

Yeah If I had a good power area I would have done a 20 to 25 gpu farm. but at my prices for power the margins were tight. I had as many as 16 gpus pushing about 8500 hash for a month or so. I envy those that can run the machines at 650 hash for a 7970 vs the 500-530 hash I do. but the power really takes off . Well Each day I look at the network hash rates hoping for slow asic buildup and slow price rise. I would like all of march to go like it has so far. I have 39000 hash coming from BFL but at this point I not so sure I want them to deliver until may or june even july.

well i use fast cash 4 bit coins they send to paypal.

I use btc buy they sell amazon cards. no fee.

https://fastcash4bitcoins.com/ 35.22 cash for 1 coin fee of 35 cents so 34.87 but no paypal funds on hand.

http://www.btcbuy.info/ right now 6 pm east coast 36.95 amazon card for 1 coin

prices vary I compare the 2. I sell 2 coins at a time and I wait until they money hits paypal or the giftcard comes to my email. once I know they pay I look to see if I want a second sale.

Thanks - what does "no paypal funds on hand" mean? Do I have to wait until they have the funds first before selling, in order for them to send to my Paypal account?

Just wait a bit and they will have funds again. It usually takes less than a day.

Well...there is no stated fee, but there is a ~3% fee built into their buy price.

not to argue they float around a lot I have seen their price above and below mtgox within ten minutes time. I do not hold coins long. I sell 2 at a time about every two days. I clock back and forth between fast cash and btc and the mt gox price. one good thing about btc is you can lock in a price for 1 hour. right now mon 11 pm they are 36.75 for a amazon card. so if I make an order I have 1 hour to pay. if price goes up in 45 minute I can use that one .

It is one of the lower rates. But the absolute lowest rates come from hydropower plants in dams. Those provide local residents rates such as 0.04/kWh.
Don't worry, the current US government is dismantling them as fast as it can for their so called "ecological damage" so pretty soon they would get to enjoy expensive power like the rest of us.

Yeah, I checked this morning and could hardly believe it. I have 7950 and 7970 mining, and at the current price and difficulty I mine ~$130 per month. Definitely glad I went with AMD this round instead of nVidia.
