Mining is viable on NV cards now

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0

Quick test of the new build got me a little over 500 kH on a single 780. Some people in the thread report getting over 600kH by upping memory clock. That's entering 7970 territory. AMD is still superior of course but this is an impressive achievement.

The only difference being that 7970s were being sold for a fraction of the cost of a GTX780 (granted, that was a month ago, but still).

Chances are it will get even better, look how many updates he's put out..

The guy works hard, no question there.

I honestly didn't even think it was possible for Nvidia to hash so well.

Besides it's fast enough that before the pop it would have paid for itself in weeks.

Well on Cudaminer I was getting 200 kh tops on a 760 while on a 7950 you would be pulling 600+. It seems only 780+ pull decent hash rates.

Um... I think I just lost all my LTC...? I honestly don't know how to use coinedup.. Here are my transaction details:

Code:
Status: 2/unconfirmed, broadcast through 11 nodes
Date: 18/12/2013 14:36
To: Coinedup LZ2ng5qFDYdp7a7Ew3hiDzTETZnjqDne92
Debit: -0.35405928 LTC
Transaction fee: -0.001 LTC
Net amount: -0.35505928 LTC
Transaction ID: 24aa47762d9ba4636f72f86c6798f3275174b831d9f16bcfddf79dca0414c2b2

Then my Coinedup wallet says my LTC wallet address is LcFijYhvQ9YqFa4VXGXXVY7aApbPXpJ5sH. The address changed? What?

So if the pool doesn't find a block, then no shares, thus no coins? Cus I was still getting coins.

CoinedUp changes the wallet address for every transaction you make.

My guess is that you tried selling LTC right? It has moved out of your wallet to an "open order" available for someone to purchase. You should be able to see that on the the Open orders tab
then the type of coin you were trying to trade.

Ah haven't tried the new version. Reading the thread people with 760's were jumping from 200 on the old version to 300 kh's on the new one. A definite improvement. I have to hand it to the guy he's working with a pretty big handicap but still getting decent rates out of the cards. Keep in mind that my old 5870 still had a better hash rate.

It's pretty interesting. Wonder if it's possible to crack 700 kh/s on 780 Ti.
For reference vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
XFX Reference 290x 71.9% ASIC Quality 1000 core 1500 ram @ 963.4 kh/s
XFX Reference 290 68.1% ASIC Quality 1000 core 1500 ram @ 877.8 kh/s

That is at 384 gB/s
780 Ti without memory overclock is 336 gB/s

Remember that only memory overclocks without any errors are useful.
Assuming you somehow overclock 780 Ti to 8000 MT/s without any errors you have some chance of reaching 290's hash rate.

there is a large discrepancy in cuda miner with gk104 getting terrible results and only gk110 skus doing well. 780s getting 550 kHa/s is very impressive... and funny thing of the day, 690s are going to blow up mining.

approaching 800 kHa/s is great for Doge mining atm, very profit!

I can't get my MSI R9 290 to run @ 1500 Mem When I do, I get all sorts of crazy lines / corruption across the screen and have to reboot. Any suggestions? Pulling 830 kh/s @ 950/1250 (82% ASIC quality listed in GPU-Z).

Lower the OC, in a strange turn of events Nvidia has the strong IMC this gen whereas AMDs is hit or miss.

The IMC on Hawaii are just pure crap, whether you can go high or not is luck of the draw. Only two of my cards can do 1500 mhz. My third card gives lower hash once I cross 1250 mhz. Having Elpida just makes your chances much worse. My 290x is Hynix, my 290s are both Elpida.

I'm using the card that can only do 1250 before dropping hash as my main card (the one that drives my monitor and such) for that reason. Power draw with all three cranking at the wall is 1200-1250w, but that's with the third card only cranking out 727 kh/s (as I have it at intensity 18 to still be able to render my desktop/ etc.)

You probably have an elpida vram, they suck horribly on R290 series. Cards with hynix vram can really crank up the clocks easily.

@the cudaminer thread:

"Lol I got my EVGA 780 Classified up to 655KH/s
I have the mem overclocked +700.

Its running at 150KH/s more than my Titans... so sad for Titans..."

Now we're talking progress. Welldone for the cudaminer creator.

Alright - so I guess it's just not happening then since the memory on this card is Elpida

My Sapphire R290 has elpida and wouldn't budge above 1350 clocks when mining but my Gigabyte with hynix ran 1500 easy. Its a real shame they decided to ship with two different vram, one of which is clearly crap for OC. From reading forums, XFX cards seem to be mostly hynix vram, as is Powercolor.

Yes unfortunately only the first batches were mostly Hynix. Everyone is mostly Elpida now as far as I can tell. I'm guessing there just isn't enough supply from Hynix because of that fire at their factory.

I'm also assuming Nvidia has bought all of the Samsung supply up.

Samsung > Hynix >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Elpida.

I can actually OC the memory up to 1450 but I don't see any improvement, actually I see lower rates until I hit 1500 and then it's not stable for very long. Oh well.

I've been reading that CGMiner is not all that optimized for the R9 290/x cards, is that true? It could have just been people speculating but hey free performance improvements down the line would be nice

hehe not selling this sheet for less than 10x the price i paid. Oh well, 100x seems more acceptable

I must have elpida on my R9 290 asus cause memory overclocks like cr*p

Who wants to sell to the guy who wants 100000 doge for 0.5 BTC ???? Nobody i guess those prices. Wow !
