Cheers.

Edit:

For the first time in awhile it looks like LTC is not corresponding w/ BTC fluctuations. I'm guessing that all alt coins are being eschewed for the new #3. Wouldn't be surprised if market cap exceeds LTC within a month or 2.

Lottocoin actually spiked up today. I'm not sure how the surge occured though. It was sitting around .00000012 LTC/BTC for a while.

At current difficulty and BTC price how long would it take to ROI?

One month if you got it today and difficulty continues at this rate.

By the time they ship.....probably never. Especially since BFL is well known for not shipping their products on time.

Butterfly Labs the place that makes that ad-in card that was linked above.

Yeah. I know. I've actually purchases a Jalapeno from them. What I was asking was who ships ASICs "on time". All this stuff is preorder based. Do their competitors like cointerra, hashfast, etc. have quicker turn around, etc.?

Not accounting for power use it would generate about 5 BTC a month at current difficulty. Once they start shipping these difficulty will go way up though. If you could be certain to get in on the first batch, I'd think you could pay it off and make a pretty decent profit off of it as well.

That's the problem I had with their products. When I ordered my ASIC miners, they would have < month ROI, but by the time I got them, I was lucky to ever pay them off.

I read somewhere that DOGE would be 5% inflationary per year once all blocks are mined. I can't confirm this though.

This is correct.
Mining reward is currently 500k (*) DOGE per minute. This will half every 10 weeks, until approximately 15 months when 98 billion DOGE have been mined.

Thereafter, mining will yield a flat 10k DOGE per minute (approx 5 billion DOGE per year).

(*)The mining reward is random, following a flat distribution between 1 and 1,000,000 DOGE. The static 10k reward is not random.

OK... I gotta admit that I have more respect for you Dogecoin nutjobs now that you've successfully funded the Jamaican bobsled team. Nice work

I thought it was a very appropriate use of doge power

Wow, profit pools are raking it in! Middlecoin @ 450 BTC in a single day, others with similarly high takes.

Indeed. This latest DOGE boom has pretty much doubled the profitability of the 'best' alt coins for the moment.

For the guy having trouble with the 290 / x

I was able to get my 2 290's and my 290x to all run exactly at 910khash.

You need a program like afterburner to manually specify a fan speed or profile to keep them under 94c, because the moment they hit 94c it starts dropping corespeed and voltage to reduce temp. Also you are going to have to play with clock and memory speeds because these cards are hyper sensitive to any changes. I had to lower the speed on my 290x to increase hash and increase speed on my 290's to increase hash.

My 290x runs at 950/1250
and my 290's run at 1030/1450

Thanks, you're right, once it hits the magic number of 94C the hash rates start to drop dramatically.

I also have trouble getting my 290x memory above 1400.

ok just for shits and giggles, I spent like an hour reading up on cryptocoin mining.. right now I'm running CGwatcher scrypt mining on multipool and getting 350Mh/s on difficulty=1 from my HD5870. Is it worth my time at all to be doing this?

The short answer is "yes" if you have cheap enough electricity or coin prices are high enough or difficulty is low enough. Basically the answer is "yes" right now, but if prices tank, difficulty goes up enough, or your electricity is expensive, you will eventually reach a point where you are making nothing. If you think prices will rise to offset that then it may be cheaper to simply buy coins directly and avoid the hardware wear and tear and power prices and heat and noise. You may want to use this calculator and play around with scenarios to see what makes sense for you personally: http://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/calculator

For those that use hashco.ws, do you usually do auto-trade to BTC?

The whole point of mining on hashcows in the first place is their ability to autotrade for you.
hashcows profit switch to mine the profitable coin, then instead of paying you whatever you earned from that coin, they bulk sell all of it on an exchange and pay you in btc.

Problem is, that they have issues with their automated system sucking and the end result is less profitable then even mining LTC, must less mining a profitable coin yourself.

They acknowledge this with this following cop out
Q: Your Pool Doesn't Seem to be More Profitable than LTC, What Can I Do?
A: The unique feature of this pool is that YOU can decide whether to be paid out in Bitcoin, or the original coin, and not only that, but you can do it on a coin by coin basis. There is no question that in most circumstances, a human trader will likely out-perform the type of system this pool employs (We aren't talking trading bots here that sit all day moving tiny amounts, the pool has to sell coins fairly often to return Bitcoin to users quickly). If you feel your profitability is lower than expected, you may want to consider changing some of your coin options. Perhaps there is an alt-coin or two from our list that you feel you could keep and trade more profitably by hand, or that you feel has more future potential and want to hold for a longer term. Perhaps you'll decide you don't want the pool to handle any of your trading, and you can keep each coin type for yourself to trade later. The key is we provide these options to our miners.

Also, they have connection issues which waste mining time and about 30% stale rate on top of that. So I stopped using them after a day.

Anyone's Nvidia / cudaminer mining temps go up recently, out of the blu (within the last 2 - 3 weeks? I swear I was in the 80s before but all of a sudden it jumped 10C and only thing I tried was a newer version of cudaminer. However I reverted to the previous version after a couple uses.

Turns out one of the fans on my Nvidia card died, it's not moving at all. No wonder. It's a Gigabyte 560Ti w/ non-standard cooler... is the fan replaceable? In the meantime managed to shave 10C off load temps by undervolting to 0.962.

PS. the card only gets 140-150 khash but the machine with this card gets free electricity

I was testing out the risers and finally gave up for the moment and was looking at my 290x's and when I started the machine the second cards fan stopped. In AB the core was 0 and the fan was 0 etc.

I shut down the PC quick, and restarted, same thing.

I was wondering if the riser fried one somehow although I couldn't imagine how, then I started cgminer and it started up. The card fired right up. I guess the 2nd card was in such a power saving mode it didn't do anything until there was a demand? Pretty cool I guess, although it doesn't pay to look in the case. I don't know if crossfire enabling would force it to run always.
