So I'm guessing you guys are running about even on electricity vs revenue hoping for future prices to rise?

Factoring in hardware depreciation (GPU, mobo, CPU, RAM, PSU, etc.) in addition to electricity costs and plummeting cryptocoin prices, it wouldn't surprise me if some people actually lost money over the last few months. GPU depreciation has been particularly brutal, with some cards losing half their value after bitcoin fell from $800something down to $400something. I also had to do not one but TWO RMAs on brand new cards, which cost me weeks of time and shipping costs.

Okay, so I'm a bit confused by the terminology. Virge and IEC, you guys are saying the electricity costs are taking 35% of your profits. Do you mean electricity costs are 35% of the revenue, leaving you with 65% profit? If that's true then it still seems like you are making decent money.

Or do you mean that you are spending 35% above your revenue, meaning you are paying out of pocket for coins above and beyond the cost of electricity?

Sorry for the confusion.

Similar? You're not even factoring in the fact that DarkCoin (x11) uses about 60% less electricity than VertCoin (Scrypt-N). That means a whole slew of things - less electricity cost, less heat generation and thus if you're like me you can run more miners with the incoming summer heat, and obviously the best thing being the fact that the fans hover around 50-68% with temps at 75C so there is significantly less wear and tear on the cards.

Like I've been saying for weeks - X11 is the next major algo and anyone sticking with Scrypt is going to keep riding as it spirals downward like BTC did due to ASIC's.

Is there a multipool that uses X11, but autoswitches to the most profitable coin of the moment and makes payouts in BTC? Like the equivalent of wafflepool/middlecoin/clevercoin etc., but based on this newer algorithm?

Seems like a prime time to create such a website due to summer weather, maybe put it at the domain summerpoolmining.com or something?

Electricity is 33% or so of my revenue. But I don't sell 100% - I only sell enough to cover my electricity bill, I hold onto the remainder. Sometimes I bank that particular coin (such as Vertcoin, Darkcoin, AsiaCoin, Dogecoin, etc) - and sometimes I mine some other coin I don't have faith in and convert it to BTC. Depends on how the difficulty swings are.

I'm hedging on future coin prospects - specifically BTC.. so I don't mine for profit a good majority of the time, I mine whichever coin I feel has the highest future potential and is currently at the lowest difficulty so I can capitalize on the best return for my hash rate.

Here is a beta version (http://www.coinmine.pw/#X11) I don't like coinmine at all but it's the only one available.

Also running a multipool takes a lot of work.

Mmm.. that AsiaCoin trajectory.. just like I anticipated.

I had been keeping an eye on AsiaCoin for days & the sell orders were way more than buy orders. Hence, I didn't pick some up cheap.
Not sure where or why the pump is coming from.

Are you mining Hiro.?
What pool or P2P node.?
The one I am on just has 2 people, me & some other guy.

Sell orders were higher than buy orders because of multipool dumps. This will end quite spectacularly come Wednesday and I expect to see AsiaCoin skyrocket in value.

All the sell orders did was let those of us with some long-term vision to buy a ton of them - I've got almost two million AC currently and have a large buy order waiting if it drops back down for any reason.

You can't just watch a coins market to understand it's intrinsic.

Doge halved. Currently mining Doge on a loss, but whatever.

Cancelled my plan for buying a mining rig. Going to buy ASICs (preferably something cheap like the Zeus Blizzard if it comes out).

The Zeus Blizzard is 200. At current rate, with any coin, my daily profit would be an average of $1.75 at current prices of everything. ROI would be 4 months give or take a few days. Not bad.

Good luck with that, won't be buying ASIC's this time around. Cancelled my Titan pre-order, just decided it wasn't worth it.

Move to X11.
Scrypt isn't worth it anymore.

Great.
I was thinking that for all the smart decisions you make.
Why would you waste your money on that Titan which will never make its ROI when it finally gets into the hands of the users.

I really want an ASIC that is cheap and will get its ROI. I don't have thousands of dollars to blow on an ASIC. The Blizzard is 1) relatively cheap 2) a good enough hashrate

EDIT: Zeusminers are doing a promo. They're going to double your hashrate for free. So if you order a Blizzard, you'll get 2.4 mhs worth (2 Blizzards) for the price of 1.

Kinda wish I had that kind of money to throw at it :c

Well I like Dogecoin and I just feel like mining it right now.

I don't run 24/7 so I don't see a need in really paying attention right now. Plus my desktop that I use to mine will be turned off for 7 weeks since I'll be off working.

Your wish.
Doge needs to go up to at least 150 Satoshis before it is worth mining in my opinion.
If you really want some, just buy it.

I guess this is why my multi-coin mining pool just skyrocketed in profitability?

The halving didn't occur till earlier today.
The profitability went down the drain 2-3 days ago.

Mainly because of the death of WhiteCoin.( Dev dumped the pre mine/his stash & bailed)
If they can resurrect the coin now it would be amazing.

I will still hate it as it is just trying to Bank the success of BlackCoin with no original ideas if its own.

Yeah, it's been fluctuating like crazy. For a few days it was like 150-200% LTC profitability, then dropped to 75%, now it shot back up so hard it's back up to well over 100%.

All the exchanges have frozen WhiteCoin deposits/withdrawals because of some blockchain vulnerability.
It needs to be forked, some community members & people from other coins have stepped up to help, but I would rather see the Coin die.

Whitecoin was just another dressed up trashcoin. A lot of the scumbags who flatter themselves by calling themselves "devs" know they can make a quick buck due to the anxiety in alt coin markets due to the profit crash of mining. Folks want/need a new pump and dump, and plenty of "devs" willing to put up a trashcoin to bank on that desperation.

Yeah. Wafflepool is currently mining it and it has well over 75% of the total hashrate. Using this to calculate pool hashrate percentage.

Yeah. The WC wallet has a vulnerability.

Which is fundamentally flawed as you can't just create a new coin because you missed the last big one.

You just pointed out one of the major flaws of the current crypto world.

There are plenty of clones that try to feed off of the success of a coin.

They're all for pump and dump. Examples include the 50% premined coins, country coins, color coins, POW/POS coins.

I still can't believe anyone is putting real money into anything but bitcoin or litecoin at this point, but I'm more than happy to capitalize on their gullibility until the inevitable crypto crash wipes the slate clean.

Pump and dump will make my a lot of money if you keep an eye out for ones that seem to be interesting rather than a straight copypasta/coingen thing.

Here are my list of upcoming pump and dumps:
EmiratesCoin (x11 + Country coin)
ElectronicLire (x11 + Country coin, HOWEVER, OP is the dev for Giarcoin which is a fail)
Flux (SHA3 with an interesting flair to it)
VirtualMiningCoin (IPO goes towards GHS at cex.io, interesting in my eyes)
Parallaxcoin (Scrypt-n with merged mining if the pool implements it)
