I've been playing Crysis with the new patch and the Crymod very high detail workaround and have been pretty impressed. Crysis frame rates appear a little better but I've also OC's my 8800GTS a bit more recently. The Crymod very high settings are noticeable in the game. The cutseens also play more smoothly than they did before the patch.

Like the previous poster said, the new benchmarkcpu 2 is much tougher on your system than the previous benchmarks. I did not let the new benchmark finish but from the info on the screen it appeared that my avg FPS was 17. With the previous benchmarks, my avg FPS was 35.

I'm running it all high with 2x FSAA @ 1440x900. Average frames are about 30-35 now instead of before which was basically 25-30. So a little improvement nothing much to write home about but definitely slightly more playable.

Is DX10 only turned on in Very High mode?

Some DX10 'effects' get turned on in very high. But When I launch the game it's in DX10 and x64bit. I have the option to launch the game DX10 w/32bit, DX9 w/64bit, DX9 w/32bit or my setting now, DX10 and 64bit.

There is a workaround to get the very high effects using DX9 and the image quality is nearly the same. Just missing a few of the visual effects.

Where is this option? I want to run the game in dx9/64 bit with the dx9 tweaks. (I know how to do the tweaks as I had them working on my xp installation.

So I guess that means that DX10 should automatically be being started on my box then. Is there a way I can check whether it is using DX9 or 10?

My impression is that a lot of the lag issues in multiplayer seem gone. There always were hangs/lag when running fast over some thresholds like the proto facility entry or other points where stuff had to be drawn and this is now gone.
The whole thing seems more fluid with less stutter now. I noticed some increased vegetation pop ins though. Maybe Crytek cheated a bit and secretly reduced the "real" quality level of HIGH and VERY HIGH settings.

Looking forward to the 2nd patch that should address the cheater morons and other MP related bugs.

one way to do it is run it in devmode. Just add ' -Devmode' at the end of your Crysis desktop shortcut. It'll show you dx10/64bit/fps and a bunch of other infos.

To run in DX9 and x64 your shortcut should look something like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Bin64\Crysis.exe" -dx9

That will do it

Just go to the games explorer and right click the crysis icon, you will see options for "run in DX9" and "run in DX10."

Mine was running in DX10 64bit mode. My FPS were only around 28 (ouch) at 1680x1050 on High with the patch.

So anyone get to the snow/mountain levels yet? Is it still as slow as before or mildly better?

I just got back up to before the "spaceship" and don't want to waste time playing through the crappy zero G level to check.

As slow as always. But then, I'm so CPU limited... I didn't expect much.

Hopefully in 2 days I'll have a brand new X2 3800 knocking on my door! Which will be overclocked to hell and beyond... you just wait.

I just started playing around with it in DX9 mode, High with some of the Very High options turned on and it is nice and smooth and looks great.

dx10 has way to much of performance hit to be worth it. I played the whole game on dx9 on my 8800gt

I am getting to the point where I think Vista just isn't worth it because the only thing it "has" is DX10 and that doesn't seem to be really worth the hassle.

Unfortunately the driver support for XP64 probably isnt' at the level of driver support for XP...

Got my new CPU. That doubled my FPS with only a slight overclock.

Anyway, I forgot to mention that with the new patch, putting the shader option on high doesn't murder my video card like it used to. It's perfectly playable now like that! At 1024x768 of course...

I can't believe how good Crysis looks and plays on this low-mid range computer.

Mine does too, but currently it's overheating. I'll do something about my temps and then I'll make it sweat like a pig.
